Product Description

This scandalously funny collection gathers the Slowpoke cartoons of the Bush era, chronicling America's political and cultural buffoonery with Sorensen's trademark brand of absurdist humor. Packed with gags, Slowpoke skewers media blowhards, corporate scumbags, vapid trends, and the lunacies of the Bush administration with relentless wit and energy.

Romping Through Bushopia5
Jen Sorensen is a brilliant young cartoonist whose non-too-gentle satire is genuinely funny. This little book covers the time period from 9/11/01 to 2003. It is frequently political, but also comments on general "cultural" matters. You read it slowly, savoring one page at a time. My favorite recurring character is Drooly Julie, who gets off on "male undergrads' tawny, muscled thighs covered with a light dusting of man-fur." Then there is "Mr. Perkins," who appears in various disguises, from "the Prez" on down, who is distinguished by an elongated head, sometimes topped off with a hat or a toupee, and who occasionally breathes flames directed at liberals.

Don't miss this book! I rate Sorensen and Ted Rall among the top cartoonists drawing the lives we live today, day by day and week by week.

Sheer genius!

Laugh out loud funny5
I love the new crop of comic artists in this country - the ones considered a little too subversive for mainstream media. And Cartoonist Jen Sorensen is one of the best. Her latest book is the perfect read for a politically burnt-out world. Sorensen's observations, both political and social, are spot on. Hilarious!
