Catwoman was one of the consistantly entertaining Batbooks during the early 2000's thanks to Brubaker excellent writing, as well as stylized art by Darwyn Cooke and later Cameron Stewart. Better than many of the Batman books published at the time. Focused on the noir aspects of the character to great results.

![]() | Batman - Gotham Central: In the Line of Duty by Ed Brubaker
Buy used from: $114.82 Sorry, More from Brubaker (with writer Gregg Rucka this time). This highly underated series lasted only 40 issues, but was one of the best monthly comics on the market. Focuses on the Gotham Police Force and ho they deal with all the crazies when Batman is not around. Excellent.
|
![]() | Road to Perdition [ROAD TO PERDITION -OS] by Max Allan Collins
Buy used from: $10.00 DC comics produced a series of cinmatic, full length stories in the mid 90's under the PAradox Press imprint. This is one od the best. Ignore the so so movie which miscast Tom Hanks as the Angel of Death; one of the 1930's most dreaded gangsters. A sequel was also released.

|
![]() | Human Target: Strike Zones by Peter Milligan

|
![]() | The Shadow: Who Knows What Evil Lurks in the Hearts of Men?: 1st DC Issue (20N1N30684, Vol. 2, No. 1, November 1973) by Denny O'Neil
Buy used from: $8.00 One of the greatest pulp heroes has a very erratic publishing histoy in comics. The best of which are the 5 issues from the 1970s by Dennis O'Neal and Mike Kaluta. Find them. Here's hoping he returns to comics soon.
|
![]() | Dick Tracy: The Collins Casefiles, Vol. 1 (Dick Tracy: the Collins Casefiles (Graphic Novels)) by Max Allan Collins
Buy new: $17.95 / Used from: $8.95 Only 3 volumes of Max Collins outstanding run on Tracy were collected, but slaes just weren't there for these elegant and violent tales. Not what you would expect if all you know is the cartoony 1990 movie version.
