Product Description

Here is complete coverage of state-of-the-art surgical techniques for the spine and peripheral nerves. This atlas engages the full range of approaches -- anterior, antero-lateral, posterior, and postero-lateral -- for operations on peripheral nerves and in every area of the spine, from cephalad to caudad.

Each of the seven sections of the atlas opens with in-depth discussion of pathology, etiology and differential diagnosis conveying the underlying scientific principles of diseases and conditions of the spine and peripheral nerves. The authors then present technique-oriented chapters containing step-by-step descriptions of surgical procedures. These chapters delineate the goals, indications, contraindications, anesthesia considerations, positions, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each technique in a concise manner, ideal for the busy practitioner seeking review. Lavishly illustrated with more than 1,200 images, including 811 beautiful full color drawings, this authoritative text covers all of the critical issues involved in surgeries for the spine and peripheral nerves. Here is an invaluable asset to neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons and residents seeking a carefully edited, didactic atlas.

Review

"The editors have succeeded in creating a formidable atlas...Its presentation is generally concise. Technical details are presented succinctly and with large, lucid diagrams. Although the text is organized in a practical manner that allows for quick consultation, it also succeeds in supplying the detailed information found in general neurosurgical texts. In short, the editors have successfully created a first-line resource for all clinicians. Many substantial and diverse topics have been successfully corralled into a useful and readily accessible reference source. Given its scope and depth of information, Atlas of Neurosurgical Techniques: Spine and Peripheral Nerves is reasonably priced. In the opinion of this reviewer, it would be beneficial to any clinician or resident as an operative resource."--Journal of Neurosurgery "This compendium is much more than an atlas, since it blends basic and advanced concepts of spinal disorders with multiple technical nuances related to anterior, far-lateral, and posterior approaches to different spinal disorders. This is a prime composition of leading authors in spine surgery. The illustrations are superb, the text easy to read, the quality impeccable, and the price appropriate. This book is a must for most neurosurgical libraries."--Doody's Book Reviews

Excellent neurosurgical atlas5
Much like it's brain counterpart, this is an excellent atlas. It is arranged logically and the pictures are excellent (and in color). It outdoes many other atlases in how up-to-date and expansive it is. The text is "to the point". I have found these books to be the best at preparing the night before a major case. All critical steps are reviewed and well-elucidated through illustration.
