Editorial Reviews
Review
Marshall Summers work (in The Great Waves of Change) provides an outline of the coming changes and prepares the reader for living in a radically different world. --GEORGE NOORY, National Talk Show Host, Coast To Coast AM
SUMMERS HAS WRITTEN AN ENGAGING, SPIRITUAL CHALLENGE for all people who seek to resolve broad-ranging conflicts, engage life according to a true moral compass, and seek innovative ways to reconcile the individual with the sacred Earth, of which we are all a part. --MICHAEL TOBIAS, Author of A Vision of Nature: Traces of the Original World
THE WAVE IS CRASHING: WILL WE SINK OR SWIM? This book is, in effect, a crash course for swimming in turbulent waters. We can survive the confluence of economic crisis, climate change, energy scarcity, overpopulation, and all the rest--but not without profoundly changing the ways we think, relate to one another, and treat our environment. The Great Waves of Change tells us how. --RICHARD HEINBERG, Author of The Party's Over and Senior Fellow, Post Carbon Institute
About the Author
Marshall Vian Summers is the award-winning author of Steps to Knowledge: The Book of Inner Knowing (Year 2000 Book of the Year Award for Spirituality in the United States) and Greater Community Spirituality: A New Revelation. His message emphasizes that humanity is a greater community that must establish a new unity and cooperation in the face of great change if it is to survive and advance in the times ahead. His message presents a new vision of humanity s future in a larger Universe of Intelligent Life and an urgent call to prepare individually and collectively for the Great Waves of change; a converging set of challenges which include economic hardship and instability, catastrophic climate change, resource depletion and escalating conflict around the world. His writings contain a spiritual preparation which focuses on the deeper intelligence within each person called Knowledge; which each of us will need in order to navigate the difficult and uncertain times to come. As nations, cultures and religions clash and become more unstable, men and women everywhere will need this deeper authority to determine their actions, to assist one another and ultimately to forge a new way for the human race.

Spiritual Insight For Difficult Times Ahead
Many of us are concerned for the future that is rapidly approaching --
concerned that we are entering an era that will see depletion of oil and
fresh water and other resources, as well as very hard economic times for
many as well. This is just scratching the surface of things that
humanity will be dealing with, which is enough to cause many to feel
hopeless about the future. What can we, as individual humans, do to
contribute to a better future for ourselves and our children? Marshall
Summers, in his newly released "Great Waves of Change"
provides the most positive and powerful answer possible.
It doesn't just lay out a difficult scenario ahead (as many books and
scientists are doing now), but returns us to ourselves -- to the
Knowledge which is an innate and God-given part of each one of us. The
world ahead will no doubt look very different than the one we have taken
for granted these many years -- too many large factors are changing for
this not to be true. It will take strength and courage to deal with
the transitions that are coming and the dark picture of the future that
is depicted here, but Knowledge within us is the guiding
factor that will make it possible to traverse our way through. All
the clever answers that scientists and politicians, bankers and corporate
heads have suggested will solve the problems -- HAVE NOT. There is
a place for our intellect, but I believe it is in service to this greater
gift of Knowledge within us, and we must deeply connect to this Knowledge.
Every human being in this planet needs to have this book!!
This book is a real eye opener,it gives such a reality check!! It provides a clear big picture of the future we are heading into by touching on issues such as climate changes, economic hardship to earth visitations, etc. What I particularly like about this book is that not only it talks about the great waves in detail, but it also provides a very helpful list of things you can do now to prepare for the future. I feel this book has made a real difference for me. I heard Marshall Summers interview on the radio talk show 'coast to coast' on the book of the great waves and it really shed light on so many of my own questions. After reading 3 of the free chapters on the great waves of change website, I strongly feel that this is a book that everyone in the world needs to have. I'm ordering 10 extra copies so I can give away to the people in my own life.
Water, Food, Energy, Climate
It is apparent that humanity is headed into a future that will be largely shaped and defined by limitations of food, water and energy. How people live, where we live and for many even whether we live are going to be up in the air.
This vision of our future could be utterly depressing and terrifying, except that in this provocative and inspiring book, MV Summers points the way to empowerment, confidence, survival and contribution. Summers not only asks us, "How will you know what to do?" but he also asks, "How will you know how to know what to do?" and lays out an effective pathway to knowing. Particularly, "The Deep Evaluation" and "Relationships and the Great Waves" provide tools for preparing our communities and ourselves, spiritually, emotionally and practically, for the impending converging catastrophes our world faces.
The future that Marshall Summers paints is bleak. It frightens me. 30% less food in the next few decades? Massive population reduction? Extinction of the worlds large animals? Storms of economic crisis and collapse? Social unrest? War? My mind boggles at the scale and depth of suffering that is flying towards us. But as Summers says, "this is the world that you have come to serve."
