Cajun Moon (Urban Soul Presents)Cajun Moon (Urban Soul Presents) by GiGi Gunn
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.01
Cajun Moon is a good book to read while relaxing on the beach. The descriptions of New Orleans, Napa and New York are vivid. Readers can imagine being in those settings. You can feel the warmth and music of New Orleans, the breeze and hospitality of Napa and the liveliness of New York. If you're looking for romance and want to be swept away in the moment, this is a must read for you.
Chasing DestinyChasing Destiny by Eric Jerome Dickey
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $1.22
The characters' destiny takes place over the course of a weekend. There is violence, passion, sorrow, family conflict and desperation. Overall, Sistas Speak enjoyed "Chasing Destiny" for its entertainment value and drama-filled page turning fast pace. Although our members could not relate to the characters in the book, some of us had empathy for Carmen and Destiny.

The turn of events in Cup’s life support the notion that it’s never too late to change your life around for the better. It takes determination and trust in a Higher Power. By the end of the memoir, you may find yourself either mentally exhausted or surprisingly elated.
Them: A NovelThem: A Novel by Nathan McCall
Buy new: $11.20 / Used from: $0.01
Sistas Speak enjoyed “Them” for the author’s ability to present a relevant issue through the minds and characterizations of four ‘strong’ characters: Barlowe; Tyrone; Sandy; and Sean. Other characters that stand out are Nell, Marvetta Green, The Elders (Ely, Amos, Willie); and Mr. Smith.
The Darkest Child: A NovelThe Darkest Child: A Novel by Delores Phillips
Buy new: $10.08 / Used from: $8.19
Delores Phillips’ writing style is exquisite. The imagery is detailed and real. Characters are believable, with the exception of a Sistas Speak member questioning the reality of a small southern town knowing that children are being abused and not intervening. Makes you go...ummmm..
