"Firstly I should say I was a huge fan of the third edition, so I was eagerly awaiting this new edition. The switch from greyscale to colour makes the book and diagrams prettier that's for sure, but isn't a big thing for me because the content of the book is what makes it my favourite textbook. 2 new chapters have been added (the Cancer chapter is a perfect edition as veterinary oncology becomes more and more a feature of each practice's income, and as such needs to be in each veterinarians bank of knowledge). The diagrams are (and always have been) excellent, often referenced by lecturers to explain a key concept or drill home a complicated issue. The clinical correlations and practice questions are something every text should have because they invite you to test if you have understood anything you've been reading, and with a large number of practice questions in the FREE online learning resource it just gets better and better. Some people say that this books old edition was too 'wordy' but I totally disagree, I think there is a perfect balance of pictures and text, and yes there is a lot of text, but it does cover the huge topic of Veterinary Physiology."

very useful, well written
as a veterinary student I have found this book to be both well written and inclusive of much of the information that I need. I recommend this book to anyone in veterinary or biological sciences.

A great physiology reference
I would highly recommend this book. The next best thing to sitting in one of Dr. Cunningham's lectures. It is easy to understand, uses great examples and has good practice problems. I bought it for first year physiology and am constantly returning to it to brush up for other classes. Dr. C also designed the cool cover.

A must for your veterinary library...
This book is a must for any veterinary student. My class was using a human physiolgy book, which was very informative, but was frustrating to use. The textbook of Veterinary Physiology is easy to read and well organized and has many tables and illustrations to help you understand the material. There are even case studies in the book that help you apply the information. I gave this book 4 stars, because while very informative, it does leave out a few things (those topics can usually be found in a medical physiology book). Overall, this book is a very good supplementation to veterinary students whose classes use a medical physiology book as their primary text. The only other downer (this is minor) is that the tables and diagrams are all black and white. Color diagrams would be a nice upgrade in the next edition.
