![]() | HTML and CSS Web Standards Solutions: A Web Standardistas' Approach by Christopher Murphy
Buy new: $26.39 / Used from: $9.98 this book has just replaced Ian Lloyd's book as the first book I tell people to read to learn standards-based markup. I like to be able to point people to books to get started, and THIS ONE is it! it reads like a textbook, teaches in order and explains well, what is being done and why it should be done that way. excellent beginner book and potential mini-reference.

![]() | Handcrafted CSS: More Bulletproof Web Design by Dan Cederholm
Buy new: $26.39 / Used from: $23.30 great book in that it works on the theory of not fixing everything for older browsers, but making things better for browsers that are ahead of the game and adopters of early (even pre-spec) standards... it's dan cederholm, can't go wrong reading it.
|
![]() | DOM Scripting: Web Design with JavaScript and the Document Object Model by Jeremy Keith
Buy new: $23.09 / Used from: $12.60 wow. just wow.
normally, i'd put a book like this much further down on the list in terms of when you should read it, but honestly, even if you don't get it all, you understand that it puts the intentions of good markup ahead of the cool, and proper stuff that it builds. that's a seed that should be planted early.
see my review for more...
