Editorial Reviews

The first of two "best of" VeggieTales programs packs together 75 minutes of the Christian-lite group into one volume. The three stories here include "Daniel and the Lion's Den" from the first VeggieTales video, Where Is God When I'm Scared?, and complete programs of Dave and the Giant Pickle and Esther, the Girl Who Became Queen. All three tales illustrate the VeggieTales' creed at its best: entertaining stories from the Bible with a good deal of wackiness that make the lessons go down easy--for both kids and grownups. "Daniel" showcases the remarkable variety of original music the series produces, while Dave may be the quintessential VeggieTales episode. Each segment begins with energetic youngsters discussing the themes. --Doug Thomas

Very entertaining (and educational, shhh...)5
A couple of months ago I checked out the first volume of Veggietales from the local library. I found the first story to be pleasant, but when the scallions in "Daniel and the Lion's Den" started dancing and singing "Oh No!", I knew we had found a winner. My four-year-old son, my teenage daughter, and I have become big Veggietales fans, and this DVD was one of several I purchased when I decided that we had to stop borrowing the videos from the library because we just wanted to keep them for ourselves!
My son's favorite Veggietales story is still "Daniel and the Lion's Den" (it's one of my favorites, too, along with "Josh and the Big Wall"). I like the other two tales, too, but also have one question: What kind of vegetable is Esther exactly? She's the same veggie as the thankful family in the Madame Blueberry story, but I have no idea what she is (she looks like a green spoon to me, but I may be just unaware of all existing vegetables).
yes, it is a good DVD for anyone to watch.

A Collection of Classics5
This DVD collects some of the best of the Veggie Tales stories. If your kids have never seen any of them, this is the one to start with. The songs are first rate, the humor delighful, the characters likable, and the morals are outstanding. What a breath of fresh air.

Thank you, Big Idea!!!

Excellent4
Dave and the Giant Pickle - 5/5 One of those veggietales that you think to yourself, "When will this be on dvd?"
Ester, the Girl Who Became Queen - 2.5/5 not my favorite veggietales, but it has it's moments.
Daniel and the Lions Den - 4/5 it has a few great musical performances and conversations.
This was sort of a "compilation" of Veggietales that was released on VHS in 1996. Dave in the giant picckle is a 30 minute episode, as is Ester. Daniel is only 15 minutes, but for the price, your paying only a little bit more for two and a half times the running time as opposed to the other videos and dvd's. I really can't wait. Seing the other veggie's on dvd, I'm sure this will have much imroved sound and slightyly improved picture. Feel free to leave me a helpful/not helpful feedback. God Bless America!
