By an Amazon.com customer
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: ReflexCall of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex
Buy new: $46.99 / Used from: $38.00
It may feel 2 years late, but for Wii gamers it is just in time. Other console gamers may be enjoying Modern Warfare 2, but the extra time it took to adapt this effectively to the Wii's hardware and control scheme was worth it.
Call of Duty: World at WarCall of Duty: World at War
Buy new: $46.41 / Used from: $28.99
I can't say it's not better on the PS3 or Xbox, but if this is your only console this is a must-play shooter. Metacritic = 83.
The ConduitThe Conduit
Buy new: $27.99 / Used from: $14.52
Wii-exclusive. First person shooter. It doesn't compare to the marquis online shooters available on the PS3 or X360, but it offers an outstanding multiplayer experience on the Wii. Metacritic = 78.
Medal of Honor: Heroes 2Medal of Honor: Heroes 2
Buy used from: $19.00
Pseudo-Wii-exclusive. A shooter built from the ground-up exclusively for the Wii (A different version was designed specifically for the PSP). Features 32-player online functionality. Metacritic = 73.
Resident Evil 4Resident Evil 4
Buy new: $24.84 / Used from: $13.50
This is the best version of one of the greatest games of the last console cycle. It makes outstanding use of the Wii controls and includes all the extra content available from all the previous versions. Metacritic = 91.
Dead Space ExtractionDead Space Extraction
Buy new: $46.99 / Used from: $31.75
Wii-exclusive. An unfortunately overlooked arcade-style shooter from the incredible Dead Space universe. Metacritic = 82
No More HeroesNo More Heroes
Buy new: $70.69 / Used from: $14.50
Wii-exclusive. Stylistically similar to Suda51's previous game, KILLER7, this one deals with social issues and open-ended gameplay. Kill assassins. The swinging control scheme is visceral and satisfying. Metacritic = 83.
No More Heroes 2: Desperate StruggleNo More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
Buy new: $46.99
Wii-exclusive. A fine sequel to a fine exclusive wii title.
Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector's EditionMetroid Prime Trilogy Collector's Edition
Buy used from: $41.98
Wii-exclusive. Includes Metroid Prime 3 plus updates of the Gamecube titles Metroid Prime 1 & 2 with new Wii controls. Incredible value for the price, even though Nintendo does tend to repackage and resell a fair bit.
Metroid Prime 3: CorruptionMetroid Prime 3: Corruption
Buy new: $87.98 / Used from: $14.49
Wii-exclusive. The best shooter available on the console. Hard-core gamers won't be disappointed. Metacritic = 90.
MadWorldMadWorld
Buy new: $19.79 / Used from: $8.50
Wii-exclusive. Anticipation was high and reviews have been strong for this dark, stylistic, over-the-top title with lots of gallows humor. Extremely violent (chainsaws, blood, gore). Metacritic = 81.
Bully: Scholarship EditionBully: Scholarship Edition
Buy used from: $25.00
Third-person action game by Rockstar. Metacritic = 83.
The Godfather: Blackhand EditionThe Godfather: Blackhand Edition
Buy new: $91.61 / Used from: $15.99
Outstanding art direction in this sandbox game (ie, GTA-style) that parallels the familiar Godfather story with FMV clips from the first two films. You can actually strangle people and swing weapons with the Wii controls. A must-have for any Godfather fan. Metacritic = 77.
Red Steel 2 w/ MotionPlusRed Steel 2 w/ MotionPlus
Buy new: $59.99
Wii-exclusive. Stylistic. A vast improvement over the promise the original failed to fully realize. MotionPlus makes it that much better.
Red SteelRed Steel
Buy new: $19.55 / Used from: $6.49
Wii-exclusive. One of the first games to try to utilize the swinging motion of the Wiimote to simulate sword-play. Developers didn't get the controls perfect, but did better than some others. This is an experience you won't find on other consoles. Metacritic = 63.
House of the Dead: OverkillHouse of the Dead: Overkill
Buy new: $19.96 / Used from: $9.40
Wii-exclusive. Definitely Rated-M. This rail gunner is not an arcade port, but is designed exclusively for the Wii with the Wii controls in mind. Mediocre graphics, but hilarious B-movie dialogue and vibe. Metacritic = 78.
Resident Evil: The Darkside ChroniclesResident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
Buy new: $44.99 / Used from: $29.99
Wii-exclusive. It seems half of this list is made up of Resident Evil titles and the other half are either light-gun shooters, zombie survival horror games, or both. It is what it is.
Resident Evil: The Umbrella ChroniclesResident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
Buy new: $18.79 / Used from: $15.72
Wii-exclusive. The lightgun / rail shooter genre is one of the few mature gaming genres where the Wii excels. This is one of the best and offers a play-through of familiar locales from RE0, RE1, and RE3. Metacritic = 75.
Resident Evil Archives: Resident EvilResident Evil Archives: Resident Evil
Buy new: $29.99 / Used from: $20.00
Another repackaged remake, but still a great game, especially if you enjoy survival horror.
Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil ZeroResident Evil Archives: Resident Evil Zero
Buy new: $29.99 / Used from: $21.95
A Wii re-issue of a solid Gamecube classic.
Silent Hill: Shattered MemoriesSilent Hill: Shattered Memories
Buy new: $46.99 / Used from: $40.00
Wii-exclusive. Another remake of another survival horror classic.
Tatsunoko VS Capcom: Ultimate All-StarsTatsunoko VS Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars
Buy new: $46.99 / Used from: $32.99
The Wii doesn't have the latest Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur, Tekken, or Mortal Kombat, but it does have Tatsunoko vs Capcom. Capcom features characters from Street Fighter, Mega Man, & Viewtiful Joe, while Tatsunoko's most familiar may be from G-Force/Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman.
Mortal Kombat ArmageddonMortal Kombat Armageddon
Buy new: $29.99 / Used from: $23.99
A solid fighter ported from the last-gen PS2/Xbox game from 2006 by the same name. Unique Wii-mote controls added. Metacritic = 71.
Ghost SquadGhost Squad
Buy new: $53.99 / Used from: $16.49
Wii-exclusive. This is the best light gun game currently available for the Wii, especially for two-players. Reviews were modest, but it's a blast to play with friends. Metacritic = 69.
Dead Rising: Chop Till You DropDead Rising: Chop Till You Drop
Buy new: $21.99 / Used from: $14.49
A port of the outstanding X360 game utilizing the innovative controls and engine from the phenomenal hit, RESIDENT EVIL 4. It neither lives up to RE4 nor the 3-year-old Dead Rising original, but it sure is fun. If you're a die-hard zombie fan and have exhausted the RE and HOD options above, it may be worth your time. Metacritic = 61.
House of the Dead 2 & 3 ReturnHouse of the Dead 2 & 3 Return
Buy new: $17.78 / Used from: $14.99
Wii-exclusive. Rail-gunner. The Wii does light-gun rail-shooters well, but this isn't the best on the console. If you like zombies and/or rail-shooters and you've already exhausted the fine entries listed above, give this a look. Metacritic = 66.
RYGAR: The Battle of ArgusRYGAR: The Battle of Argus
Buy new: $21.97 / Used from: $10.89
A disappointing port of an exceptional 7-year-old PS2 game that was innovative in its day. With a look & setting similar to the GOD OF WAR style game, it does make use of the Wii controls for throwing Rygar's shield. But Tecmo left a lot of potential on the table with this one. Metacritic = 52.
Perfect Shot for WiiPerfect Shot for Wii
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $5.99
Offers a FAR more satisfying controller than the Wii Zapper. And with the plethora of light-gunners and rail-shooters, you'll be happy to have this. In fact, you may want to get two because most of these light-gun shooters are more fun co-op.
