Product Description

Completely updated to reflect the latest in paddling technology, William Nealy’s classic illustrated kayaking skills manual is dead-on hilarious. Kayak enlightens and entertains. From hardcore hippy hairboaters who used to catch air in their block-long Dancers to insane youngsters clattering tiny play boats down steep creeks with more rocks than water, Nealy is back and more useful and entertaining than ever. You may break a rib laughing, but with Nealy holding your hand you’ll be less likely to break a bone while boofing an insane rapid or maybe an entire waterfall.

Hump Jumping – It’s hard to “get air” going off a big slanting drop. However, you can use irregularities on the face of the drop (humps, bumps) as mini ski ramps to launch from. When contemplating a hump jump ALWAYS inspect your launch hump carefully…an upstream-pointing face irregularity can pin you or literally rip the bottom out of your boat (and you)! By studying aeriation (or lack of aeriation) on or near the hump you can make a number of safety oriented decisions.

Funny5
What a great book, the drawings are wonderful to see what to do when kayaking.

Good advice disguised as fun5
Love it. Adds to his previous book to give detailed explanations, diagrams and a 'sensory' picture of trouble, how to spot it, how to avoid it and what happens if you don't - all while maintaining a sense of humour. Great fun as well as informative for GradeIII+ paddling.
