Canoe carrier
I purchased one of these in June of 08 and hauled a 17 foot canoe from Maine to Montana. Along with two Yakima racks on my Honda Odyssey and load stops the canoe never moved an inch. Coupled with the Yakima rack system this is an excellent extension for your long canoes. Only negative thing I could say is that it's a little tippy loading. Just remember to tie down the canoe before you swing the canoe around to your roof. This is just a minor isssue.
Not too stable, use for lightweight canoes only
It's a good deal for the price, but if you canoe is a heavyweight, this T-rack moves around too much while you're loading it.
Does what it claims.
With one reservation, I can heartily endorse this product, which I purchased a month ago. I have had a Blue Hole Royalex canoe hanging in my garage for many years now. Years ago, I used it every weekend for six months a year. However, when I went past 50, I began having problems hefting it over my head to get it on the roof racks of my car. When I bought a large SUV to haul my travel trailer, that was the end. It was simply too high for me to handle the canoe.
The canoe loader solved the problem. With very little effort, I can now get the canoe on the top of my SUV in less than 5 minutes. Taking it off is even easier and faster.
The one exception to what would otherwise be a 100% satisfactory review is that I have a heavy duty hitch. Affixing the canoe loader to the car, requires removing the hitch ball, inserting the ball's threads through a steel plate, and then reattaching the ball to the hitch. Unfortunately, the hole in the steel plate supplied by the canoe loader's manufacturer is too small to accommodate the threads of the heavy duty hitch ball and there is no mention in specifications (at least that I found) of this problem. There was an easy work around. I just took the steel plate to a local welding shop and had the shop weld the plate to the hitch.
