Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $7.22 I love the music of Django Reinhardt and I think my first jazz purchase was an LP of his music. But as a recording artist Lagrene is possibly BETTER than Django. This is an absolutely superb album, a real treasure. However the 3-hour live concert DVD of Lagrene and Friends called Jazz at Vienne is even better than this CD.

|
![]() | Artie Shaw and His Orchestra: 1949
Buy used from: $3.25 This is the band that was the beginning of the end for Artie Shaw as it bombed on the road, not because the music was bad. The music is quite superb, but audiences just wanted to jitterbug and hear Artie's greatest hits of yesteryear. So the greatest genius of jazz quit the business at the very height of his powers.
