Summer StormSummer Storm
Buy new: $17.49 / Used from: $7.63
‘summer storm’ is a great movie, about coming out in Germany. Sexuality is quite natural in Western Europe and this movie portraits it. During the summer Tobi is coming to terms with being gay, among his friends. He experiences disappointment, curiosity, sexuality, friendship and acceptance. In Germany being gay is just that, no big deal, and the movie is quite realistic and natural.

Coming out is bit more complicated if you are Mormon and on a 'mission'. This film has a good story - is at time a bit over the top, but portraits misunderstandings that have quite dramatic results - and is quite deep and entertaining, funny and serious, at the same time. A good movie.
Rock HavenRock Haven
Buy new: $17.49 / Used from: $7.98
Rock Haven is a sweet and romantic story of two teens falling in love. Although both come out to each other this is not really a coming out film, but rather a movie about a young couple’s struggle with conflicting religious ideals and the exploration of their sexual identity. A film that clearly shows how much our home environment influences our sexual self esteem.
MulligansMulligans
Buy new: $22.49 / Used from: $17.80
Mulligans is about two college friends (gay/straight), and one friend makes a mistake that breaks up the family of the other, but the story is told without taking sides. This film is honest and emotional, and shows how people that love each other should act when ‘disaster’ strikes. I applaud the great cast and acting – this movie, although predictable is definitely worth watching.
Edge of SeventeenEdge of Seventeen
Buy new: $26.99 / Used from: $10.00
Eric is a senior in Sandusky Ohio in the mid 80s; he is working a summer job, is young, sexually interested, naïve, and full of unanswered questions. With his best friends help he is changing his hair, and with it his whole world as he knows it. By the time the summer is over, he accepts that he is gay, came out to his parents, had his heart broken, and found access to a new world, and friends.
Get RealGet Real
Buy used from: $25.44
Get Real is set in stuffy small-town Britain. A gay senior learned to understand that being gay is no longer a private matter, once friends, class mates and parents find out. He uses the school paper to anonymously and honestly publish an honest story to be heard, some people listen, some learn, and some remain closeted. It’s a film about first love, friendships, parents and finding ground.
Outing RileyOuting Riley
Buy new: $22.49 / Used from: $10.17
Outing Riley is a coming out movie of a man in his prime to his traditional Irish-Catholic family. Riley represents Joe-average, and is just a nice guy that now has to deal with the issues of his brothers. The movie is not bad at all - from a director that is straight. It has its moments.
Making LoveMaking Love
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $3.96
This 1982 film was somewhat groundbreaking when it came out. Although its plot and story line is the one of a soap opera, it has valid points, and it is believable for the time it was produced. This movie is a good film for a gay movie collection to show how coming out stories have changed over the years.
Dorian BluesDorian Blues
Buy new: $17.99 / Used from: $5.09
This film is a very well written and acted coming out story, about Dorian. He is somewhat awkward, and ready to go to college. His ultra conservative, macho father and his Prozac happy mother do not hear him, or understand him. His brother is everything he is not, but he is the one he will bond with. This is a good movie with a somewhat different angle of dealing with life after coming out.

A melancholic film about a teenager, Lincoln Bloom (Shayne Gray), struggling with his sexuality. On the outside, he keeps it "straight," but he slowly embraces his true identity when he meets Minh (Thang Chan), a sweet Vietnamese boy, embarking on a relationship that will change their lives for good. Soon, however, they must face a homophobic world.
