Great binoculars5
I"ve got 50 year's experience with good binoculars and wanted a knock-around, inexpensive pair that was waterproof, fit in my pocket like these clamshells, and had good optics (obviously). I've generally used Nikon and Bushnells, so I tried their models over a three month period. Amazingly, the Nikons and Bushnells in this price range were disappointing, so when I picked up a pair of 8x26 Vortex Typhoons in a birding store to try, I was absolutely amazed. They are light, waterproof, compact, and the optics are far better than those of the Nikons and Busnells I tried in the price range. I love the lightness and the way they fit in my hand, they are totally waterproof, they fit in my shirt pocket, plus the optics give me clear, bright, and perfectly focused images. The focusing is also precise and smooth like much more expensive binoculars. They also focus down to 15 feet, which is great for watching wildlife in our back yard. Plus - these are the only binoculars I have ever tried, at any price, that actually work well when I have my glasses on.

These binocs fit well into the provided case, though the strap is larger than it needs to be. And, get this, the lifetime warranty is transferable AND covers any damage - not just something the manufacturer goofed up. That's way better than any warranty I have ever seen. I highly recommend them.

Follow up: I now have about 20 cold and rainy weather hikes in with these binoculars and continue to love them. They do not fog up inside or outside, they are light, they fold up to fit in my shirt pocket, and if I want to have them outside my coat I just open them flat and they don't bounce around. That's not something you can do with most binoculars. The focus is terrific; close in (15 feet-100 yards) they have a shallow depth of field so you get the blurring in the background that makes what your are viewing pop out. Beyond that, the depth of field gets wider so you barely have to move the focus knob to get in focus focus for different distances beyond 100 yards. I love these binoculars.
