Only place to find Frank
I have a three and a half year old son and all he wanted for Christmas was the "mean tractor Frank". Frank happens to be the ONLY vehicle they did not make. This game has it!!! Out of the hundreds of presents he recieved over the last three days, the little Frank out of this game is his FAVORITE toy in the world. Oh and he also likes to play the game. The pieces are extremely tiny. But my 2 year old also does well with them.
Oh, for the love of Frank
We bought this game for two reasons:
1) My son loves Frank. To date, this is the only place to get one unless you buy a custom one on ebay (I will admit I am considering it--ok, I love Frank, too).
So, for those of you wondering what that Mattel version of Frank that you see on ebay is, this is it. I can't believe people are paying $30 for these things! You need to know, the scale will be way off with Frank being slightly smaller than the diecast cars. My 3 year old isn't particularly concerned with scale, however. Yours probably won't be either.
2) When he got his diecast tractor, my son's almost immediate response was, "There's just one?" This game has 16 tractor game pieces. Great tipping fun that can also be used as an opportunity to count.
All the gamepieces are made of plastic. The tractors and the cars and made of a slightly pliable plastic, like resin. Frank is made of a firmer, case like plastic.
Please, bear in mind, these gamepieces are freakin' tiny! I am a bit obsessive when it comes to keeping up with his toys and we have still lost 4 of the tractors over the past 6 months. We still have Frank, Mater, Sally, Doc and Lightning, though. And...we still have 12 tractors, and that's plenty.
I can't really comment on the quality of the game itself. I couldn't care less. We've got Frank! (and lots of tractors)
Not destined to become a classic board game
My six-year-old saved his money and spent it on this game. The movie tie-in lured him to the purchase. We've played the game a few times. I'm still not completely clear on the rules. The "points" assigned to the tractors are impossible to read - in fact my son, who wears eyeglasses, cannot even tell where they are. He prefers the old classics, Monopoly Jr., Sorry, Trouble, Mousetrap, and Scrabble Jr. to this game. Purchase one of those instead.
