Too many problems1
Filters are much more difficult to install than I think they should be, unit consistently breaks or has a problem every few months. The white plastic filter housing has broken twice (see photo) and I've had to replace the faucet/dispenser at least once because it constantly dripped or even poured. I am now on hold to get another part since I am a "Water 4 Life" subscriber for about $100 year - which includes two filter changes and warranty. Eventually I will probably spend the time and money to get a better unit.

UPDATE 2008-11-29: After the water filter housing broke a third time, I requested that they send me another one for free which they did (no shipping charge) (I am a Water4Life customer). They seem to have redesigned this part so hopefully it will not break again.

Don't waste your money1
I bought this water filter because it has great specs, especially for the price and for being a countertop filter. Admittedly, the water tastes great. The housing is so sensitive that you can only run water through it at and incredibly low pressure to keep it from bursting.

We do our best, but it is so inconvenient and if you have a household of a few people, somebody is sure to not care and run it through at a normal pressure, which is way too much for this filter.

After the first one burst, I dumbly bought another one thinking that we could just be more careful this time. After a few months the second one just burst. It was while I was running the water this time, so I know I was running it on a very low pressure. I'm completely disappointed. Why they don't fix this problem after so many people have complained (read reviews everywhere), I don't know. If you live alone and have a lot of time and patience to fill your glass very very slowly, then this is the perfect filter for you.

Aquasana AQ-4000 is "fair...", and SEVERELY restricts tap water flow...! Update!5
Update!- After 2 years, I have to downgrade this to a "1"!-
1. Filters are VERY expensive, and will get slimy if not changed at recommended 6mo!
a. Down facing filter gets stuck !BADLY! (I had to dig... it out!)!
2. Less expensive spring loaded faucet now drips/sprays, and I can't figure out how to rebuild it (& I do rental maintenance!)?!

- I finally bought a refrigerator with a filtered (NSF approved), water dispenser!

Original review-
Most ALL modern kitchen (bath, shower...) faucets/aerators..., have a "!removable!" plastic water use restrictor washer (govt. regulation!), that has a SMALL 3/16"... hole. This is good for ecology...

I have a water well, so I do NOT want to restrict water flow to my kitchen sink faucet...!!!

As soon as I installed their AQ-4000 sink top model-
I noticed it took MUCH MUCH longer to fill the sink with water (for dishes...)?!
I removed their aerator assembly..., and discovered it had a "non-removable!" VERY SMALL 5/32"..., "permanent" METAL restrictor hole!
Uninstalled!

I then installed their optional "Under-Sink Install Kit" (AQ-4056 (BEST!), or AQ-4050 (MUCH less$, but faucet didn't last!)) .
This complete kit has a faucet that mounts to sink-top (NOT very easy, but worth it!- Drill... a 7/8" hole, mounting bracket screws are too large..., connect new water-T...)-
I now have good filtered water, and a "normal" water flow at the sink faucet! :o)

I see that they have "complete" kits (AQS-150...), that comes with the "Under-Sink Install Kit" & AQ-4000... (Less $).
