Great water Gun very DURABLE
I have a very active son with autism. He loves water and water guns. I have bought alot of water guns and they all end up broken or taken apart. This water gun has lasted. It is easy for him to refill, shoots far and he has a ton of fun with it. It costs a bit more but well worth it considering all the money I spent on ones that ended up broken.
Super Soaker 50 almost the same...!
This 20th anniversary release, of the Super Soaker 50 is close to the original. I recently bought this, and enjoy using it in water wars with my 6yr. old son. He said this one is now his favorite Super Soaker ! Overall this is a great buy. A few differences are that you can't screw the bottle off to fill it. The bottle has no Super Soaker 50 sticker. Just says Super Soaker , imprinted on the bottle. It's slightly different on the end of the barrel. And their is a added piece between the main base of the gun, and the pump. Also it says it shoots 35 feet. Instead of 50 feet as the original stated. Despite those differences, this brings back the good ol' days ! And it appears to be more durable than some of the newer Super Soaker guns my son and I have. If you remember the original 50 and don't have an original. Than this is a great replacement !
The 50 has always been my fav of water guns. But I am still hoping to see a 20th re-release of the 100 aswell !
This isn't your old Super Soaker 50
I loved my Super Soaker 50, like I imagine a good number of the people who are interested in this product did. This re-release got me very excited, keeping my eyes peeled whenever I was near a toy store. I finally got my hands on a pair (for me and my girlfriend) and I have to admit, it's a mixed bag.
First of all, huge applause for the structural redesigns, it is far more durable than the old 50 ever was. Why only three stars? For one very simple reason, while you could pump the originals until they broke or broke skin, these ones have flawed caps which, maybe intentionally, release pressure when pumped beyond a certain point.
That's right, the 50 no longer means it shoots 50 feet, and even the 35 foot estimate is optimistic. I think I could hit 35 feet if I was shooting at a perfect 45 degree angle, and I had a slight breeze to my advantage. When shooting the gun from arm level (I'm 6' tall) the blast touched ground about twenty feet away.
If I pumped it until the gasket leaked, the next shot would be a misty blast of sputters, until it caught its groove again. Some of my favorite times with the Super Soaker (and this ventures into why I gave it four stars for education) were filling it with varying levels of water, then pumping it to various degrees. The Super Soaker line carries with it the ability to gain a tangible sense of air pressure and how water is not compressible.
Fantastic nostalgia, great colors, durable redesign, but somewhat neutered, as if its true audience wasn't already in their twenties.
