Fun Follow Up to GH3
I will admit I am not Aerosmith's greatest fan, but when I found out they were going to be doing a Guitar Hero game I thought how cool...
My husband and I have been playing all afternoon since we brought the game home, and despite what others have said it is a FUN game. In my opinion it's a lot more ...colorful...than GH3, which I love. The venues are awesome, very creative. The setlist has many songs that you will instantly recognize while throwing in older, lesser known Aerosmith songs. Which isn't a bad thing...I don't think we've come across a song that we don't like. For every venue you start off playing 2 warm up songs by different artists as the old GH band. After that you play 3 songs as Aerosmith and then an encore.
I have read many early comments from various websites with people complaining about Aerosmith being picked to do this game. What they fail to mention is that with ANY band they choose to do these games with there are going to be people who won't want that game, and that's understandable. When the rumored Metallica GH comes out the same thing will happen because there are people who don't like them. For those saying that this game should have been available as downloadable content for $15-20 are just full of themselves and not thinking. On the PS network they want you to pay almost $7 for an add-on pack of just 3 songs. Do the math. This game has over 40 songs....
With all that being said, if you enjoy music and the GH series you will like this game. If you can't stand Aerosmith, then yes, stay away and wait for GH4 this fall. But for those who think they might like the game, don't be discouraged from buying it.
Guitar hero Aerosmith
This game is great! There are going to be people who complain about everything, so, unless you feel like they do, you will enjoy this game! It is so fun! I have been playing since we got it. My brother, sister, and I play against each other and with each other. I love all the songs on it. I am glad it is not all Aerosmith, that would probably be boring, but there is a mix of Aerosmith and non-Aerosmith songs. I love it!
Same guitar hero with a god awful song list
Guitar hero is guitar hero. The concept is relatively hard to improve on beyond different graphics or scenarios. You just push a button and strum when the corresponding icon passes the bar at the bottom - no matter how you spin it. Therefore, the only reason to buy new games is for new songs.
I am a huge Aerosmith fan, so I was pretty psyched about getting to "play" all their songs. Unfortunately, I purchased this without checking the song list. I assumed that if the game was centered around Aerosmith that it would, at the very least, include all their top hits.
"Amazin," "Crazy," "Cryin," "Janie's Got a Gun," "Angel," "Don't Want to Miss a Thing," "Jaded"... are NOT in this game! Just so you know... the final song - the one you work the whole game to unlock is (drumroll)...."Train Kept a Rollin."
What gives?! Does Aerosmith not own the rights to their own songs? Did Activision not want to lay out the dough, hoping suckers like me would just see the name "Aerosmith" and buy the thing?
It DID include "Dream On," "Livin on the Edge," "Love in an Elevator," and "Sweet Emotion," but is four songs worth the money? If you can get it for $5 or less, you can call it an even deal.
But my advice is my lesson learned - CHECK THE SONG LISTS!
