Best Pic Book that holds the Spirit5
This is a wonderful book of rugby. It is more of a Photo easy that captures the spirit of the game for all ages. The Pictures include players of all ages and levels of play. This is an excellant gift, hard cover coffee table material. We have decided to give a copy to our Youth Rugby Coach and order another copy for ourselves.

The book includes photos from all over the world, including South Africa and New Zealand. It does not explain the game, that is not its purpose, but if you have every played the Game, this is a must buy.

... and even if you don't.4
I haven't had a whole lot of exposure to rugby, don't understand all the rules, and sometimes have trouble following the action. I do know it's a great spectacle, though, and when I get a chance to watch it, I almost always enjoy it. But so much of the action happens very quickly, or inside a scrum of flailing arms and churning legs.

That's whaat makes this book such a revelation. Much of the photography is exceptionally high-quality, freezing the action at a moment that reveals all the skill, energy, and passion at work from schoolyard competition to the highest reaches of the World Cup. There are also great shots of players at rest before and after matches, fans with painted faces and raw emotions, and quite a lot more.

There's not a lot here about the history of the game, or really much of anything explaining it all to a newbie like me. But whether you're a serious fan who lives or dies with your team, or just someone like me who enjoys a good show, you could do far worse than spending some time poring over the great photos collected here.
