About the Author
Joel Sweeney lives in Newfoundland, Canada and is the owner of Professionally Speaking. Established in 1995, Professionally Speaking offers a variety of products and services that are designed to 'Bridge the Gap' between individuals and organizations by promoting effective communication and leadership skills. He has been Master of Ceremonies for numerous weddings and a variety of other social and business functions.

He has been an active member of Toastmasters International since 1988. Toastmasters International is the world's largest non-profit, educational organization dedicated to developing public and inter-personal communication skills. He has earned several designations including DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster). The DTM designation is the highest offered by Toastmasters.

Since 1996 he has been an instructor with Memorial University of Newfoundland - Division of Continuing Studies where he teaches a variety of communication courses.

Too Serious
I will admit that there are a few key pieces of information that was valuable but the tone of the book is way too serious. People want to have fun at weddings therefore providing tips to a MC or DJ on making the reception ceremony more exciting would have been way better. I bought 3 books along the same lines; this one by far is the dullest. The other authors provide excellent advice for entertainment THAT'S IN GOOD TASTE. I think if the author of this book was the MC of a wedding I was at, I'd fall asleep. He seems to be too politically correct on everything which just doesn't make it interesting.
