Review
" as fascinating to those of us who've lived here for years as... to those who've never been here before." -- Napa Valley Register, August 6, 2003

From the Publisher
There is a new edition of this book.

The Napa Valley Book - EVERYTHING You Need to Know About California's Premium Wine Country 978-0965900072

From the Author
The kind of book on the Napa Valley that I wanted for my own bookshelf didn't exist, so I wrote it myself. I've lived in the Napa Valley more than 20 years, and worked with wineries, wine industry media, and community organizations. I wanted a book that would give visitors all the information they need to know to fully enjoy their visit here, as well as one that we residents could use when we're looking for a restaurant, wine facts, or information on the valley. With the help of my advice team of local residents, we've come up with that book. Now we've got something to give our friends and relatives when they come visit.

Not very good at all...........1
Unfortunately I found that this book was a waste of money. It was more of a address/telephone directory, rather than a travel guide. Save your money. You can find the same information online or in travel booklets that you can get upon arrival to Napa. I bought several books to prepare for my trip and this one was by far the worst. It lists addresses and telephone numbers of wineries, restaraunts and lodging with little reccomendation. I purchased this book to help me choose my itinerary and I didn't feel any more educated or informed after reading it.

Loved this book5
This was the best book I got in preparation for our trip to Napa. When I received it I didn't think it would be very helpful- I was wrong - we used the description of restaurants every day - if we wanted breakfast, all we had to do was look at the descriptions and make a decision. We went to several restaurants that we never would have known about (that were excellent) without this book. Very highly recommended.

To see Napa, see this book5
Whether you live in or visit the Napa Valley, you can rely on this guide. My copy of the previous edition is heavily flagged and underlined because there is so much to do and see here. Now that I have the new edition, my future house guests will benefit as much as I. While I wish the review of the Lobster Shack gave more menu details and were as enthusiastic about the restaurant as my local and visiting friends and I are, we always consult the Napa Valley Book to plan our itinerary. And the guide never fails us. You can make the most of the valley if you make the most of this book.
