The Bodum double wall Canteen Cooler glasses are 13 ounces in size and can be used for cold or warm beverages. Its unique design is appealing to the eye when filled with your favorite beverage. With its double layer of borosilicate glass it appears as though the liquid is 'floating' within the glass. They will not sweat when filled with a cold beverage, so you will not have to use a coaster. The double wall creates a thermal effect, helping to keep your cold drinks cold and your hot drinks hot for longer periods of time. These mouth blown glasses are an exciting product for any home, restaurant, and cafe and are a definite conversation piece. Bodum’s insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass traditionally used to make scientific lab glass. Stronger than traditional “soda-lime” glass, borosilicate can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Borosilicate glass substitutes boron oxide in place of the soda and lime used in everyday glassware. The boron oxide acts as the glue holding the silicate together. Due to small size of boron particles, the glass is held together tighter, resulting in a stronger, lighter glass. Borosilicate glass doesn’t need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong due to the bonding capability boron oxide. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is resistant to temperature swings, In addition to being dishwasher safe borosilicate will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 1,000 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it.

Amazon.com Review
Drawing on modern technology and innovative design, Bodum's Canteen collection puts a new twist on everyday drinkware. The walls of each vessel are hand blown with two layers of clear glass, creating an optical illusion that the liquid is suspended inside. Cut in slightly tapered, clean lines, they have an almost futuristic appeal that emphasizes the relationship of form and function.
This set of two double wall cooler/beer glasses serves anything from chilled lagers to hot cider. Crafted of borosilicate glass, which is also used to make scientific lab equipment, the pair is exceptionally strong, lightweight, and thermal. The two-layer construction also resists heat and prevents condensation, so no matter what temperature the beverage is, the glasses remain comfortable to hold and safe for any tabletop. Winner of the prestigious European IF Design Award, this 7-ounce, scratch-resistant set goes safely into the dishwasher and microwave. Mix and match Canteen with the Pavina and Assam lines to stock the bar or dining table with a variety of fun shapes. --Kara Karll
Editor's Note: Because the glasses are mouth blown, each one may have slight variations in height, thickness, and weight. Bodum recommends using care when placing ice into the glass to avoid fracturing the inner layer. Do not use metal spoons or place the glass into a crowded dishwasher.
Customer Reviews
Too fragile; even hand-washing allows water inside walls
In my never-ending need to own fancy things, I foolishly bought these glasses when they were first released, for even more than they cost now (although they are still expensive). Folks, please stick with plastic insultated glasses! I know that plastic is tacky, but some things are just more trouble than they are worth. You WILL BREAK these glasses, no matter how hard you try not to, so maybe its a good deal that Amazon is presently offering a deal on them.
In short: these glasses are easier to break than my Riedel Bordeaux glasses (in other words, FRAGILE); the glasses allow water to seep into the small hole on the bottom during hand washing, which is ugly (the tiny hole on the bottom of the glass prevents the glass from cracking due to rapid temperature changes); and dropping ice into the glasses or using too hot or cold a beverage will crack them. The only upside is they look nice for awhile (until water seeks in, or a hair line crack appears).
My first set was crushed in shipment. Amazon had not wrapped it in bubble wrap or anything else, and the Bodum box is severely lacking in built-in protection. Amazon DID ship new ones right away.
Save yourself the trouble of worrying about and dealing with these glasses! Pretty enough for awhile, you will find yourself so worried about ruining these expensive glasses that you will sit them on your shelves and simply stare at them. I really am sorry to say this... I don't give many negative reviews, and I generally like Bodum products.
Wonderful until they break
I've had these since they first came out. Initially I was surprised that they didn't break and were microwave safe, so I four more were ordered. But now I've had two literally EXPLODE upon minor impact. I found shards of glass all over the kitchen for weeks. Two more broke when I got ice from the door of our new Monogram refrigerator. The impact of the ice broke the inner shell and it wasn't readily apparent until half the drink was consumed. These things are a dangerous!
Bodum customer service says there is no warranty.
I say no more Bodum.
great glasses bad customer service
The insulated glassed are great. The first shipment was poorly packed and two of the four glasses were broken. I returned the broken glassed and immediately received new unbroken glasses. Now a month later Amazon says I didn't return the glasses and there are going to double bill me.
