Customer Reviews

The first CD is great, but the second one doesn't fit the bill4
For over a decade now the WOW collections have allowed fans of CCM to buy many of their favorite songs on two-disc collections. These compilations have always primarily featured what could best be called 'mainstream' CCM, and the 2003-2006 sets were excellent at featuring most of the best songs of each year.

Unfortunately, the 2007 set is the most disappointing set since 2002. The first CD in this collection continues the trend of excellence from the past few years and contains outstanding songs from the past year in CCM, including hits by the David Crowder Band, Third Day, and the Newsboys. The second CD, however, ventures largely into what I'd call 'alternative' music territory (with the occasional exception of an artist like Rebecca St. James) and is not what I've come to expect from the WOW compilations. For those who are interested in 'alternative' Christian rock, there have been (and will continue to be) the X compilations.

The WOW and X collections are put out by different labels, so maybe WOW felt the need to compete in the 'alternative' market as well. For those of us who don't like these 'alternative' styles of music, this is unfortunate as it has reduced a 2-CD set to, for all practical purposes, one CD.

Still, this 2-CD set is priced lower than many single CD's and, therefore, is still an excellent bargain. If you like all types of Christian rock, then you'll love both CD's; if, like me, you prefer the more mainstream pop - with an occasional powerful rock song - then you'll probably only enjoy the first CD. Either way it's worth the price, but I want to forewarn those who might share my disappointment in the second disc.

CCM's Best Bets for 2007!5
This may be the best WOW yet! You have a strong collection of CCM Pop/Rock hits, the best being the catchy and worshipful My Savior, My God by Aaron Shurst, the rugged and simultaneously thoughtful "This Man" by Jeremy Camp, the poigant post miscarriage tune "Held" by Natalie Grant, the spiritually powerful "Dead Man" by Jars of Clay, and "Without You" by Big Daddy Weave. There is also an excellent contribution from Reliant K's latest release, the boisterous "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been."

I liked these songs right away, they got under my skin and became a part of my life. This cd collection is great and I highly recommend it.

WOW 2007 review4
The first CD has the type of music with which I most identify. This type of music moves my soul toward the spiritual growth I most desire. The second CD is edgier and does not appeal to me. However, the lyrics on the second CD are spiritually excellent. I just prefer the type of music used on the first CD. I highly recommend the album. The artist's are first rate. God has definitely blessed them with talent and they are using their talent to glorify Him in their music.
