Inspired by the ripples created by a single raindrop on water, renowned Venetian glass designer Frederico DeMajo crafted a new way for wine enthusiasts to enjoy their favorite vintages. A member of the innovative Esperienze collection, this set of four 21-ounce all-purpose glasses compliments a range of wines with wide, rounded sides and wavy bottom contours that encourage the wine to "breathe," or oxygenate, quickly for the best bouquet and flavor. Poised on an elongated, round stem and generous base, the result is a graceful and refined silhouette appropriate for both daily and formal dining. Esperienze stemware is blown from pure lead-free crystal for traditional quality, flawless clarity, and reassuring weight. This handsome set goes safely into the dishwasher between uses. It is made in Italy and comes packaged in an attractive gift box. --Kara Karll

Try the new Bormioli glass
I've never liked Bormioli wine glasses. They always seem to put form, Euro-style, over function, wine tasting. When I first saw the Bormioli Esperienze all-purpose glass with its cutesy concentric rings INSIDE the bowl I laughed. I laugh no more.
Last Saturday I went to an American Pinot Noir tasting/dinner on Cape Cod where two of the wines refused to show their bouquet no matter how much we swirled, swished, palm warmed and cussed. Finally the hostess pulled down her box of Bormioli Esperienze all-purpose glasses, poured from her top of the line Riedels into them and passed them around. The bouquets exploded. It must have been those cutesy little rings echoing the esters. The dullards became instant brainiacs and one of them was declared best-of-show. Betcha a Beychevelle to a TwoBuckChuck that Riedel's already scoping out Bormioli's patent on cutesy little rings.
Only glasses needed
After seeing these glasses in a magazine article, I was skeptical. But after a taste test of freshly opened wine in a regular glass and these glasses... no comparison. Even my most jaded friend admitted they work in aerating the wine without swirling or letting the wine breathe. The lip of the glass is thin, like Reidel glasses, but at a better price. Only drawback... they don't fit in your dishwasher, but you wouldn't do that with Reidel glasses either. I intend on getting more!
Question: what symbol on the foot?
My wife and I experienced these glasses in Italy, and were blown away. We're insufferable Riedel snobs, and were so impressed with these that we need to get some!
One strange question to anyone out there who bought these: what logo is on the foot of the glass? The glasses we used in Italy had a cursive Z (for Zafferano - the maker of the glasses), but I'm curious if those distributed by Bormioli have something different? Can anyone out there chime in (and give a review, too).
Thanks!
