Amazon.com Review
This small 5-inch corkscrew fits comfortably in most drawers and displays the combination of function and style that Pedrini tools are known for. For durability, the corkscrew is constructed of all-metal parts and chrome-plated for a brilliant, modern shine. Double levers raise to anywhere between 45 and 90 degrees as you twist the spiral into a cork. Tight tension on the gears provides just the right amount of force when pushing down on the levers to pull a cork. To prevent bottles from cracking and wine from splashing during opening, the underside of the corkscrew is fitted with a plastic insert. This bar tool has a bottle cap lifter in its loop handle and is covered by a lifetime warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde
Customer Reviews
Poor Quality - avoid
I purchased this opener thru Amazon.com and upon its very first use it broke. Normally I would return a broken product but with today's postal rates, it will cost me close to the purchase price to return it. I am posting this so you can learn from my lesson and buy for QUALITY not for the cheap price. You get what you pay for!
poor design
this unit is not well designed--
the handle is to small to get a good grip on in order to rotate the screw.
the arms are not long enough to get the cork out a reasonable distance to extract
Buyer Beware of This Barware
I got this corkscrew, put it to it's intended purpose only to discover that it was not to be. Sure, I got the cork out of the bottle, but when I tried to remove the cork from the corkscrew I could not. Trying to twist the cork off the device only accomplished one thing, the whole 'screw' part of the tool kept falling out and I was left with the cork and the screw in my hand. As I could not change the direction of the threading as the designer should have done in the first place, my only recourse was to cut the cork away and store my leftover wine with a makeshift cover. Who makes an item like this? At least some of my fellow reviewers here got one use out of it. I suppose I can try some crazy glue to see if I can get it to hold together, but I would never recommend this item and am rather resentful that I need to now extensively research the purchase of a corkscrew to make sure I don't get screwed again.
