Customer Reviews

Quite Good, But An Even Better Value4
There are currently no reviews on this product. I'm not here to write a detailed review, but though I could put down some bullets and help a few of you out there.

I bought these despite still having the two headphones that Acura gave me. I figure it's a 100% bet that the kids will lose or break the car headphones within a couple of years, so I'd rather have them break these cheaper units than the stock phones. Also, I'm not set up for up to 5 people that can use IR headphones in the back two rows of my car. 5 seats, 5 phones. Good.

These work with my Acura DVD system, no setup. Seems to me like most infrared headphone systems use the same standard, so these will work in most automobiles, or home IR transmitters.

They seem to use batteries OK. Volume is good. There is a volume dial/roller on the units which the kids can use.

Bonus feature: I liked these because not only can they work on infrared, but you can use a wire, too, to plug them into iPods, portable DVD players, or whatever. I can use them with my kids on airplanes, too. If the batteries die, I can still plug them in.

Folding: The fold works in such a way that the headphones end up compacted as a ball, not twisting to flat as most in-car headphones do. This makes them different to store. Seat-back pockets may not work. Not a problem to me, but make sure you have a place to put a softball-sized dingus.

Power button: The biggest problem on the device is the power button. It is a push on, push off type. But it sticks out the side of the bundle when folded. Thus, when you tuck these away, you are very likely to be toggling the power. This means you can easily leave them on. It does have a good LED that indicates on/off, so you can reduce mistakes.

Power saver: BUT, for this review, I just tested something: I turned these on at my desk to see if they would auto-power-off. After 5 minutes on my desk with no signal, the power shut off automatically. Cool! Now I know why the kids haven't killed the batteries yet!

Size: These fit over/around the ear so they provide some amount of grip using your ear. It fits my kids ears, but of course, the design is made for adults, so the headband is too high for my 4 and 2 yr olds. I cut two strips of cardboard, put them under the headband, then wrapped some cloth around the headband and cardboard. I taped the two edges, and the fit is now perfect. Thus changed, these are the best-fitting headphones I have ever had for my kids. Usually, they complain about "fall off", or "it hurts my ears", and they tangle themselves in the wires and hair. They can both put these on and power them up all by themselves. From the driver's seat, I can see if their power is on from the LED.

My cardboard size modification alters the ability of these to fold into a softball, so they only half-fold. Consider that if you are a folding enthusiast.

Sound quality: I dunno. I'm no audiophile, and don't really care. The kids can hear their movies with no complaints - in fact, they're giddy with glee about the gadgetry of it.

There is almost no information, instructions, or packaging that comes with these. Just the headphones in a plain box. Don't expect much more hand-holding then you're getting now from me.
