Good wireless solution4
I was searching for wireless speakers for an outdoor event, and I'm certain these will do nicely. While it's true that the transmitter needs to be plugged into the music source (via a standard headphone jack that will fit all devices I would need it to) and into a wall outlet, I expected that. For a test run I plugged into my laptop sitting in the middle of the first floor then slotted 6 AA batteries into the speaker and turned it on. It automatically picked up the signal. I took a walk around the house and got about 100' away and still got good signal. I also like the feature to select L,R,or Mono on the speaker itself. Bass boost helps the sound a lot. Also, I was able to run 4 speakers from 1 transmitter. Don't know yet about interference or battery life for the speaker. I love the aesthetics of it.

I took the plunge and have no regrets4
No this indoor/outdoor speaker does not sound as good as my high-end Klipsch set but it does sound good. No static or crackly interference, the sound transmission is clean and smooth. Setup is a snap and the onboard controls are ample. You can put the satellite receiver on zone 2 or your receiver, on the headphone jack of your PC/laptop or Xen/iPod. Range is my only complaint with this speaker. 150-ft is a hard limit and I question if I can even really go that far. Too many walls in between the satellite base and the speaker also causes problems. I can't speak to battery life as I've only used the AC input on the speaker so far. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Caution - Looks much better than it Sounds -2
I bought two of these speakers in Sept. 09 as replacements for a similar pair of Advent wireless speakers that were left outdoors one too many times. These are outdoor speakers which you can't leave outdoors in the wet weather. These are made by the same company that was once Advent and Acoustic Research. I use the speakers outside on my patio .The speakers are a BIG dissapointment for me from earlier versions made by the same company. I have used similar wireless speakers outdoors for many years.
The new AW825 speakers may look great with their new Asian design but they sound really tinny. I would have prefered if they put their research into better sound instead!
The bass boost button on the speakers just makes the sound seem distorted and muffled. This model reduced the size of the tweeter and main speaker from prior models. My old Advent model had a much deeper bass and sound compared to these.

These speakers sound like the mono car radio coming out from your old Chevy Nova.

The technology has changed over the years. The frequency is set automatically . I find now that passing air planes interfere with the signal when they pass. There is nothing you can do about it since there is no manual dial to adjust the frequency as there was in the past. However there is a scan button for that purpose but it didn't help. I own a pair of Brookstone wireless headphones that do not have this problem when the planes pass while i'm in the same location. Also the prior pair of wireless speakers from this company were in the same location and did not have this problem when planes passed.

I bought these speakers after reading the other reviews above which were mostly favorable.
Now having used these speakers outside for a couple of months before it got cold - my opinion of them is negative! I recommend you look for a different pair of speakers for your wireless application.
