High Sierra Waist pack 5
I use this item for mountain biking in Southern California. I find this item fantastic for mountain biking. Inside the center pack I fit a bike multi-tool, tire levers, a power bar, a tire inflater, two 16 gram co2 refills, and a sony sport discman. A real nice design of this item is that the inside of the pack has a small "envelope pocket" on the back. At first I thought this was worthless on account of the size of the pocket, then I realized that it was perfect for carrying a spare music CD or two and that it would keep them separated from the rest of the items in your pack and keep them from getting scratched. Another nice feature is that the pouch zipper is durable and the pouch closure is "squared" and not tapered so you are not trying to force the zipper closed on all of your stuff. There is also a nice clip on the inside of the pouch which I like to clip my car keys to. I only use one of the water bottles. In the other water bottle holder I put a spare 26" mountain bike tube still in the box. The water bottle pouch tends to hold it very nicely. The pack also has breathable padding on the side that contacts your back which makes wearing it very comfortable. One word of caution, I remember one of the amazon descriptions stating that this item had a large cubic inch (if that was the volume of measure they used to describe the holding capacity) center pocket. When the item came, I don't believe the brochure said it had that amount of space, and in fact, I believe it was the same cubic inch as all of the other High Sierra packs.

very good waist pack4
I use this for short to medium hikes, and it is very good. I drink a lot of water here in hot So Cal, so the fact that it has two water bottles and holders is great. The bottles are easy to reach, remove, and insert while wearing the waist pack. The pack itself is small but you can squeeze in a lot, and it can be unzipped and zipped easily while you are wearing it. Now, FINDING the item you want is up to you!

I did find that the belt tended to slip down as I walked and sweated - but I think that is more a result of my geometry (somewhat big belly, and no butt) than of the waist pack. I bought some broad suspenders to hold it up and it works great. I felt a little silly wearing this get-up the first time, but it is very comfortable.

One last point - the supplied water bottles have no pop-up "sport" top - you have to unscrew the whole cover. I have ordered some polypropylene bottles (the best plastic to use, apparently) to replace them.

Great product!!5
This was exactly what I needed. I used it during the Chicago-Breast Cancer 3 Day (walking 60 miles in three days) and it worked out perfectly!
