Sizing
Several folks have commented on the quality of this product so I will limit my review to its sizing.
It has been recommended to go a size larger when ordering this shoe. I have purchased this shoe in both my regular size (men's 12) and a size larger (men's 13). Based on my experience, I recommend you consider a couple of things before you order a size larger. First, I compared my size 12 Woolly Mammoth crocs with my Cayman crocs. The Woolly Mammoths were about a ½ size larger (½ inch longer and ¼ inch wider). Second, I have noticed that the lining flattens out with wear. My size 12 shoes were tight for the first couple of days but now fit comfortably with socks.
It should be noted that my feet measure 11½ inches but I wear size 12s and I have read that crocs can vary in size depending on who makes them. So if possible I recommend trying these shoes on before ordering them online or make sure you can ship them back for free.
The Crocs Mammoth is an awesome shoe!
But the Woolly Mammoth is even more comfy than the traditionnal Mammoth. The plastic is more flexible/cushy...as cushy as my Crocs Athens sandal soles (unbeatable comfort). The combination is truly amazing. Fewer holes on top of the shoe goes a long way in the winter element.
Go for a size bigger than your traditionnal shoe sizing.
Update 12/19/2008
I like this shoe so much I bought another pair (size 7, color black) for my oldest son. I wanted to buy a size 1 for my youngest son but this shoe is not available in that size so I got the regular Mammoth for him.
My son's black Woolly Mammoth looks less clogy than the brown one I purchased...In my opinion.
The sole of the Woolly Mammoth is superior to the Mammoth Tractionwise.
Very snug fit
I have both the regular fleece-lined Mammoth clog and the Woolly Mammoth. The difference in fit (with the same sizes) is very noticeable. While my foot has plenty of room (even a bit too much) in the regular Mammoth, it fits snuggly into the Woolly Mammoth. It is quite tight with regular socks, although I even followed the recommendation to order a size up. Wearing thicker winter socks, I am unable to fit my feet into these. One star deduction for that because I feel that with having ordered one size up, I should be able to wear thicker socks AND fit into the shoes.
That said, here is what I like about the Woolly Mammoths: I love the adjustable heel strap. As a matter of fact these were the reason I bought these clogs in the first place. It makes for much better and stable walking. Also helpful in colder weather: the fewer holes on top of the shoe as well as a much better-profiled sole. I imagine this shoe to get better traction when it is slippery outside.
Just wish these came in more color selections! I bought the black with the gray lining but feel it is a bit drab...(but hated the other colors even more so finally settled for this combo).
The only other comment I have is that I am not sure the heel strap and the somewhat different sole warrant a $20 higher price. But all in all I am happy and am sure I will be wearing these a lot this coming winter.
