Gives clear, good exmaples on how to comunicate with your kids, spouse, etc. to resolve conflicts peacefully and so that "everyone wins". Kind of a chatty writing style, but worth the info.

The Complete Book of Pregnancy and Childbirth (Revised)The Complete Book of Pregnancy and Childbirth (Revised) by Sheila Kitzinger

A good alternative to "what to expect when you're expecting" from a more "natural" standpoint. Good - although not complete- info on what happens to you and your baby every month, and much, much more.
What to Expect When You're Expecting: Fourth EditionWhat to Expect When You're Expecting: Fourth Edition by Heidi Murkoff
Buy new: $16.47 / Used from: $9.99
"The bible" of pregnancy books... While it is very "mainstream" and I do not agree with many comments she makes (such as about breastfeeding/bottle feeding, sleeping with your baby, etc.), this book does contain a TON of information about pregnancy, and the different complaints/problems you may face or wonder about.
Journey into Motherhood: Inspirational Stories of Natural BirthJourney into Motherhood: Inspirational Stories of Natural Birth by Sheri L. Menelli

A wonderful book about birth, full of positive birth stories to give you strength, hope, and confidence in yourself and your body. When you are pregnant, you should REFUSE to read/listen to "birth horror stories" and read this book instead!

The Hebrew edition is new and revised w/ some added info.
Ina May's Guide to ChildbirthIna May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin
Buy new: $12.24 / Used from: $8.95
This is a two-part book: The first contains many positive birth stories, the second talks about the birth process and discusses the negative side(s) of common medical interventions during pregnancy and birth. While she can come off a bit extreme, her book is still an important read in deciding how you want YOUR birth to take place. Highly recommended.
The Birth Partner: Everything You Need to Know to Help a Woman Through Childbirth, Second EditionThe Birth Partner: Everything You Need to Know to Help a Woman Through Childbirth, Second Edition by Penny Simkin

A good book about different ways to make the birthing process easier and less painful. Let your birth partner read it, and then talk about it together, so that they know how best to help you while you are in labor.
Sleeping with Your Baby: A Parent's Guide to CosleepingSleeping with Your Baby: A Parent's Guide to Cosleeping by James J. McKenna

Dr. McKenna is THE expert on human sleep and especially babies'. He is an avid supporter of co-sleeping and brings solid research from his sleep lab to back up the claims he makes. Do not worry about "spoiling" your baby; worry about fulfilling his needs during the day AND night. This is a wonderful way to do so.
The No-Cry Sleep Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Baby Sleep Through the NightThe No-Cry Sleep Solution: Gentle Ways to Help Your Baby Sleep Through the Night by Elizabeth Pantley
Buy new: $10.85 / Used from: $3.99
This book offers encouragement as well as practical support for tired parents whose babies have a hard time going (and staying) asleep. Realize that small babies DO wake up at night - they are meant to! - but there are some things you can do to help everyone get a little more sleep in the meantime. Stay away from The Baby Whisperer and other "cry it out" methods, and try this book!
