Customer Reviews
The only work-at-home "list" I recommend
Many who want to work-at-home are looking for "The List" of companies to which they can sign up and get paid. These lists are often full of scams and if they aren't, are usually worthless because these companies may not be hiring. But, for the person who is determined to get a list, Lynie Arden's Work-At-Home Sourcebook is the best. It provides companies with business opportunities and home employment programs. Companies can be searched by type and location (many only hire locally). Compared to the questionable "lists" this is the most thorough and researched compilation of work-at-home programs. It also provides some information on working at home and telecommuting. Its a good resource for the work-at-home wannabe but don't be surprised if you don't find a job. Many jobs have specific requirement and simply because a company uses home workers doesn't mean its currently hiring.
Trying to find Work from Home Jobs-Don't Use this Book
My best friend bought this book for me in hopes that I could find a work from home job, as I am totally disabled and cannot
work outside my home. I went thru each page carefully, sent emails to companies that only had emails, never receiving one single response, I visited websites that were listed and found that they no longer existed or were for sale and then I sent via
US Mail letters of interest to companies that only had street addresses listed, and every one of them (15 in all) came back to
me 'address unknown'. If you really, seriously need to find a job or a business to work from home, this is NOT the book for you.
Good but a little outdated
I don't know how many of these businesses were affected by the current economy but most of the applicable businesses have closed or if you do more in-depth research, reviews are mixed regarding payment or overall operation.
If you must buy this book, do not part with more than half the amount of $ you are not likely to miss (ex. $1-$5 before shipping.
