David Hoffmann explores the full range of healing capabilities of herbs. -- Lets Live
In some ways, then, The Herbal Handbook is an understatement--the scientific data is integrated so seemlessly into the traditional lore that Hoffman's extensive technical and scientific background could easily be missed. -- Whole Earth, 1998

Customer Reviews
A great reference book for all Herbalism students!
The Herbal Handbook by David Hoffmann is a great source of definitions of actions of the most commonly used herbs. Also of interest is the chemistry of plants, the body systems and their recommended herbs, which include methods of preparation for medicinal and cosmetic use.
The incredible amount of information in this book is easy to read. The section on actions is the most comprehensive I have read yet!
This title should be in every Herbalists personal library!

The Herbal Handbook, guide to medical herbs
This is a good reference for medical alternatives to high priced pharmacy medicine. These were the first drugs used by native peoples all over the world. They still work without many of the side effects of petroleum based drugs of today. Grow them in your back yard or in a pot at home and supply your own remedies at home. Dry them, grind them, make a tea of them.
