Excellent info5
Having Lupus and Fibromyalgia I have followed a number of recommendations by Dr. Brownstein and highly recommend this book. I have heard of using antibiotics for Lupus before but no doctors ever recommended it. Very informative and easy to read. The fact that one's thyroid might be one of a number culprits in many of these diseases helped me out because until I got the right doseage my Fibromyalgia was off the charts. Also the idea of eliminating wheat and gluten was a great move. I subscribe to this doctors monthly newsletter and friends and family have benefitted from many of his recommendations. I say buy the book and read it and don't just go by the one comment you won't be disappointed as long as you follow his recommendations.

I wonder how this guy got through medical school.

I sampled a random page from this book on Amazon (Surprise me) and he says that Americans on restricted calorie diets are often "protein deficient" and therefore can't effectively fight inflammatory conditions like arthritis. This is total nonsense.

There is a medical condition, well understood and with definite florid symptoms, called kwakashor. It is caused by protein deficiency. News Flash: This condition is almost totally unknown in America!

On the contrary, Americans get PLENTY of protein, even when they are dieting! First of all, your body makes most of the protein it needs even if you are a vegan & avoid eating any animal derived food at all. Secondly, the American diet is full of dairy and soy protein because such things are often added to food in ways that are may not be obvious.

If anything, American diets are most likely to contain too much protein. The symptoms of this are gout and kidney abnormalities as our bodies struggle to get rid of the toxic products of protein metabolism.

I confess I haven't read Dr. Brownstein's whole book yet (I'm going to, though) but such egregous misinformation on just one page is off-putting, to put it mildly.
