Average customer review:Product Description
Cosmetics and personal care products are the single largest class of avoidable lifelong exposures to highly toxic ingredients, including many scientifically proven to cause cancer. Contrary to popular belief, the FDA neither warns us about nor protects us from these dangers. Concerned only with its own sales, the industry recklessly ignores or trivializes them, making them guilty of flagrant white collar crime.
In Toxic Beauty, longtime international cancer prevention expert Dr. Epstein outlines the serious threats that toxic ingredients in cosmetics and personal care products pose to our health and our lives. He describes the carcinogenic, hormonal, and other toxic ingredients in these products, and provides information on the safe alternative products becoming increasingly available.
Part exposé and part practical handbook, Toxic Beauty shows you how to protect your health, and that of everyone you care about.

Review
Toxic Beauty is the most important book of the decade. As a medical doctor, Sam Epstein clearly understands the causes of diseases such as cancer, diabetes and other inflammatory diseases through the exposure to petrochemical and synthetic toxins found in every day consumer products. This book is a transparent truth of the consumer industry. It is a must read for everyone. --Horst Rechelbacher, Founder of Aveda products

Most American women have no clue that the "rugged individual" model held up for emulation includes placing the responsibility for one's health and safety squarely on the consumer's shoulder! When it come to cosmetics, each woman is on her own in judging safety of products - with no meaningful information from the producer and no aid from government watch-dogs. The research, if done at all, can be withheld by the company. Dr. Samuel Epstein is the first to speak out on this "Toxic Beauty" product hazard, and to give women some guidelines for meaningful protective action. It is a "must read" for all those who care about public health!
From the Inside Flap
"The cosmetics industry has borrowed a page from the playbook of the tobacco industry by putting profits ahead of public health." --Sen. Edward Kennedy, Sept. 10, 1997, at Senate hearings on the FDA Reform Bill
Your exposure to cancer-causing, hormonal and other toxic ingredients in these products begins in the womb, through your mother's unknowing use of harmful products, and then steadily continues throughout your lifetime. But unlike cigarettes, which carry cancer warnings on their labels, cosmetics and personal care products include no such cautions.
The good news? These exposures are 100 percent avoidable.
In Toxic Beauty, Dr. Samuel Epstein and co-author Randall Fitzgerald show you how to protect your health and those of your loved ones by identifying toxic ingredients in everyday products such as baby lotions, sunscreens, hair dyes and perfumes.
Most consumers simply don't know the dangers in the products they routinely apply to their faces and bodies. Toxic Beauty issues a long-overdue wake-up call.

The explosion of Cancer in the last 10 years is no longer a mystery
The explosion of Cancer in the last 10 years is no longer a mystery.
The very unregulated industry of cosmetics is destroying lives day by day,
with their untested synthetic chemicals.
Synsthetic Beauty is received in the exchange of cancer few years later.
A Must read for absolutely everyone!

If we wish to prevent breast cancer as an individual or as a whole society TOXIC BEAUTY is a must to read. As it takes so long for governments to protect us against toxic agents we as individuals must educate and protect ourselves against any agent that is even questionable regarding developing breast cancer. This book lifts the lid on many products that we use everyday. It is frightening to think that some cosmetics and skincare products can play such a role in breast cancer. It is also frightening to know that many cosmetic companies with a high profile in the fight against breast cancer also have products that contain questionable substances. If we stop buying these products they might get the message that they must change the ingredients in their products. If the celebrities that are paid huge amounts of money to endorse these products read this book, hopefully they will take responsibility also and send out a clear message that carcinogens in any form in our personal care products should be banned. Thankfully, Toxic Beauty names some of the culprits.

Dr. Epstein is bringing this health info to consumers
I am so glad that Dr. Epstein wrote another book about the dangers of chemicals in cosmetics and daily used products. Ever since I saw him on CBS news on a show about carcinogenic chemicals in our soaps, shampoos, I have appreciated everything he is doing to help consumers understand what they are putting in and on their bodies everyday, and how safe alternatives are available. www.healthy-communications.com.
