more expensive does not necessarily mean better
Don't get me wrong... benefit had it right on with benetint (except for the nearly non functional brush and the rose smell)- but when it comes to this product, I was less than impressed; and kicking myself for spending the 28 dollars on it. First things first- it is incredibly small. On a regular monitor- the picture IS of actual size! I'm not kidding.. I'm holding mine up to the screen right now- exactly the same size ; secondly what lured me, as I'm sure many others, was the lemon-aid and the High beam. Which seriously dissapointed me per the price.
Let me tell you, when it comes to the very best products I am a makeup guru; If only by trial and error: I have drawers full of used once cosmetics- it's a sickness I know... :)
anyway- the lemon-aid worked alot less well than my NYC spot concealer (per versatility); which works quite nicely I might add, and for about a dollar(Lemon-aid works well for eyelids and broken capillaries,if your pale to medium complected only). The boi-ing worked even less well- not even riveling plain ole liquid concealer, it was too dark for my skin tone, and did not work well for me for undereye circles(if your tan the bo-ing does work to take the red out of blemishes, but it is so dark that I can't use it without looking splotchy).
The ooh la lift did absolutely zero- and I don't even have too much puffiness- didn't even touch it- what's more, if you try to layer the other products over it as you are supposed to, your eye looks goupy: which defeats the purpose of that natural look this product is going for(just stick with the "preparation H"- it really does work- and for blemishes too). The high beam was more like a low beam- although it was more functional than most of the others- very subtle; but again you can achieve as much w/ the wet and wild; again about a dollar; and it had a sort of SILVER tint to it; not very natural and not too flattering over blush- but if your going for a "wintery look" than it's fine for that.I do not recommend it for your brow bone or corners of the eyes- it does not mix well with the other products- see above- and it's too frosty-If you want more bang for your buck/ more flattering/warmer look, check out revlon eye glide shimmer shadow in 04 champagne; I love this stuff so much I bought three just in case they stop stocking it, and it lasts! about 5-6 dollars- this stuff is brilliant- not too gold- use it for the brow bone, corners of the eyes, cupids bow and blend a small dab in the center of the bottom lip after putting on lipstick/stain(for a "lusty" full look),and cheek bones (just line the actual bone not the whole cheek to accentuate bone structure and look dewy)- and you will be positively glowing.
and last but, oddly enough, not least- the lip plump- I'm not sure what they were going for with this product. But it will pale your lip, change the color of any lipstick you put on top of it, and if your going for sheer- well just forget it..plus it's kind of goupy. It didn't make my lips any fuller- but I do use it if I need to tone down my lipstick.
I gave it 2 stars cuz the thing is so cute- if not of the best quality; and some people are willing to suffer quality for convenience.
Great for Travel and Purse!!
Benefit's Realness of Concealness has five great products in it and is just perfect for travel and your handbag. Even though it is small all the products last for a really long time and for 28 dollars the buyer is getting their money's worth. It is also a great way to try out new products without buying them individually. I have enjoyed all five and plan on purchasing the larger sizes.
For the most natural look in makeup, you can't beat this.
Each product in the kit contains just enough to get you through to when you should replace the product anyway, not more than you'll ever use before it goes bad, like most full-sized products. For each individual person, a couple of the things in this kit will become indespensible to your routine and a couple will be not so helpful (which products depends on your individual skin tone and cosmetic issues) so buying it in a multi-product kit like this is a great idea (avoids wasting money on a product that turns out to be not-for-you). Personally, I love Ooh-la-lift and Highbeam, and sometimes use the lemon-what's-it-called product as needed. For my individual review on the Oh-la-lift product (Excellent stuff but I recommend you buy it in this kit for the reasons cited here) please see that individual product.
