Review

London Evening Standard (UK), Aug. 18, 2006

“It proves good grounding for anyone wanting to take it up.”

Speedscene (UK), Summer 2006

“This is an excellent 160-page glossy soft cover publication aimed at the newcomer to karting in the USA. The American classes are race procedures that are very different from ours. All is not lost, the chapters on kart set up, tuning and most of the driving technique chapters are relevant and well explained. Some amusing terminology differences.”

Customer Reviews

Great book for beginners about kart set-up.5
As someone who has been involved in go kart racing for over 25 years I disagree with the first review of this book. Book has some good info about the most important part of kart racing, which is kart chassis set-up, not the driver. In my opinion kart racing is about 10% motor, 10% driver and 80% chassis set-up, which includes the proper tires. If you get a kart handling right it is a breeze to drive it.
The book does have a section on driving as well as sections on motor choice, the history of karting, safety, kart tuning and more. For a beginner wanting to know about all aspects of kart racing, this book is as good as any and much better than most.
There are other books on the market that cover just the driving aspects of karting, if that is what you're looking for.

Karting Disapointment2

"Karting: Everything You Need to Know": while useful, the book did not meet my expectations. I expected a more detailed "Technical" publication. While this is OK for raw beginners, not recommended for someone looking for a more technical solutions & "Hints & Kinks" format.

Rubbish!, Full of false information.1
The books is FULL of false information, it has alot of mistakes in it.
If you drive like this book teaches you, you will probably end up dead last. For example. this book teaches you to go on throttle on the straight, while in reality you should be on the throttle before the apex.
It even has mistakes in very simple things like aluminium, or magnesium wheels. It claims that aluminium wheels offer better cooling, while in reality it is the exact opposite.
