Atlantis 2 : A Question of Survival
The quest for Freedom begins!

Atlantis 2: A Question of Survival is a Mom' Choice Awards® Silver recipient
and a finalist in Foreword Magazine's Book of the year Award (science-fiction category)
The time is 2538, four hundred and ninety years after the ecological catastrophe known as The End.

In the new world that resulted from the cataclysm, the few remaining humans are content to live in and around their city of Atlantis 2 while alien species colonize the Far Lands of the former Americas.

However, whereas the humans' relationships with the aliens of the Galactic Coalition have always remained peaceful if distant from the aliens' part, the situation is now strained as for the first time since The End, the humans are preparing to explore both the sea and the stars.

In this time of unusual turmoil, Nya Pavlovsky, Princess of Mankind a.k.a. galactic ambassador-in-training, is about to take over her mother's duty. With the help of both her adoptive brother, Mykel Darewing, and her Syllin friend and fellow diplomat, Aenil Sy, the young woman prepares for her upcoming challenge, namely to try and convince the aggressive Gorgons to allow her people to finally reach the stars of the coalition.

Unbeknownst to her, though, her destiny, as well as her friends' and peoples', are about to take most unexpected turns as the belligerent Gorgons plan to attack them.

Meanwhile, further away, the well-concealed Supreme Ruler of the galaxy keeps a wary eye on the free humans of 5-B4 (a.k.a. Earth) for if they were to slip past his various means of deceit and control, they would lethally challenge his absolute, unknown and based-on-lies hegemony of the whole galaxy.

Editorial Reviews

Review
A highly imaginative take on the science fiction genre, with solid characterizations, good pacing and healthy doses of political intrigue. -- Judge 30, 15th Annual International Self-Published Book Awards, 2007

From the Author
Atlantis 2's story is about an age-old alien plot of intergalactic proportion that 'is' about to be discovered. It's a story with drama, intrigue, action/space action, romance, adventure, interspecies friendships and relationships, family relationships, etc. The readers who have given it a shot ever since it's come out of the press have enjoyed it and want more of this new world and its new characters.

And there will soon be more for the readers who visit the website mentioned at the end of the book. They only need to save that address and visit it every few months this year and throughout the coming years.

From the Inside Flap
In 2048 D.C., the human world came to an end.

That year, a new type of fuel called the Naphon caused an ecological cataclysm that dramatically decimated both the human population and ecosystems before it burnt the planet's surface to a crisp.

Prior to that fatidic end, though, some forty thousand survivors made it to the sole underground refuge that had been hastily set up in Siberia. There, deprived of the only world that they had ever known, the survivors tried to adapt their old ways of living to their new lifestyle.

They nearly destroyed themselves once again.

Then, in the wake of those new heavy losses, emerged a new society based on the principles of the fabled New Age.
Thus was born Atlantis 2.

For centuries, Life thrived and evolved in the underground city as the Atlanti developed both new technologies and ways of living that were both adapted to their limited resources and nurturing the spiritual ways.

As a result of the Atlanti's adherence to their new philosophy, strange powers of Healing and Channeling slowly appeared throughout their society, and then grew in strength and number over the course of the following decades.

From the first occurrences of such abilities, the Atlanti acknowledged the nearly-miraculous Skills as Gifts from their Celestial Father.

And so it went for some three-hundred years.

Then, the time finally came for the fifteen thousand Atlanti to return to the surface of their rightful planet, which had, after long centuries of recovery, completely regenerated itself.

At long last, breathable air and lushness had returned to the planet.

The Atlanti, however, were not the only ones to find out about Earth's recovery as aliens, too, had been keeping tabs on the planet's status.

Thus a group of Gorgons met with a construction crew of new Atlantis 2.

On that fateful day, eighteen-year-old Nicholay Pavlovsky went alone to meet the armed aliens - and discovered that he had the thoroughly unexpected Ability to communicate with the alien visitors in their own language.
Unexplainably, he spontaneously held complete and advanced Knowledge of the alien languages, hence could both reproduce and understand the strange sounds just as easily as he did any human language he had ever studied.

That day, Nicholay became the first Galactic Ambassador of Peace for Mankind.

For the aliens, he became the King of Mankind.

For everyone else involved, he became a question of survival... as did his descendants as they, too, inherited his miraculous Gift for any given language in the universe.

Throughout the following one-hundred and ninety years, the Kings' interactions with the aliens evolved into stronger yet still wary diplomatic relationships...

Or so the Atlanti were led to believe...

Atlantis 24
Atlantis 2 has nothing to do with the lost continent or with Stargate Atlantis. Its an original book with characters you can't help but love.
The book has a good mix of science fiction and fantasy elements.

A coalition of alien races don't want the Atlantis humans in space. Its up to Nya Pavlovsky and her family to convince the aliens to allow them acces to space. Nya and her mother are the only humans who have the gift to speak to the aliens. It has made them the leaders of the Atlantis people.
Closest in space to the humans are the Gorgons. While fighting them the humans are granted more abilities.
Central to the story is Aenil Sy, a diplomat of a race called the Syllin who doesn't really like humans. Though she is a friend to Nya. She keeps a lot of secrets. You never know what direction her part in the story will take. This makes her one of the most interesting characters of the book.

The story and its characters are defenitelly worth reading. So if you want to find out wetter Nya and her people make it to space get yourself a copy!
