From the Manufacturer
The MAM Ulti-vent wide mouth transition bottle system is designed to be as close to breast-feeding as possible in a reusable bottle. All MAM Bottles are constructed of Bisphenol -A free materials. The orthodontic nipple is made of ultra soft silicone and encourages baby to use a natural suckling action similar to breast-feeding. The Ulti-vent valve is sensitive enough to ensure baby a constant, air free flow of liquid. The removable bottom makes bottle clean up a snap and the new one-piece MAM valve is highly sensitive to baby's suckling, assuring a constant, air-free flow. Your baby will feed quietly for longer, uninterrupted periods just like breast-feeding. Less air intake means less spit up and gas. This bottle features Sealing cap for spill-free travel. MAM shaped orthodontic nipple, BPA free, trusted by mothers for over 20 years. The bottle comes with a wide mouth for easy filling and an easy-to-read scale for accurate measuring. It includes three packs of five ounce bottles for girls, each with a No.1 slow flow nipple with a removable base for easy cleaning.

Seamless transition for breastfeeding baby
Unfortunately, my baby was unable to gain weight exclusively breastfeeding, so I had to introduce a bottle early (5 weeks). I bought about six different types of bottles to try. The 5 oz Sassy Mams were one of the only ones that weren't too fast for my daughter. The lactation consultant advised me to give her a couple of ounces in a bottle, then transition to the breast for the rest of the feeding. We had no problem going from the bottle to breast, even in the same feeding.
My dauther is almost 11 months old and still is happy to nurse or use these bottles. I often cannot buy them where I live (Alaska), so I have tried a bunch of different wide nipple bottles inlcuding the Born Free, Playtex drop-ins and Avent bottles, but still go back to these even though I have to mail order. (If you're wondering why I go through so many bottles, I have a dog that somehow manages to find them and chew them up).
Yes, you do have to take apart the bottles to clean and there are a lot of parts. However, I prefer this design because I do NOT need a bottle brush, so I can clean them with a paper towel or breast pump sanitizing wipe if I have to. I also prefer these to Avent bottles because you can do the tricky part (making sure the bottom valve is seated firmly and the bottle body is tightly attached) in advance. I did have a a couple of leaks in the beginning before I started doing the washing/prepping assembly line style. With the Avent bottles, the "valve" is part of the nipple so there's fewer parts, but at 2 am I often didn't get the nipple seated correctly and had leaks. These bottles are also MUCH cheaper than Avent - at least where I live.
The main problem with this bottle is that you really cannot heat up the milk in the bottle. The plastic is too thick and hot water/steam will get trapped in the bottom of the bottle, leaking on you when you remove the bottle from a warmer. Since I use breastmilk bags, this hasn't been an issue for me b/c I warm the milk up before putting it in the bottle anyway.
After 7 bottles failed with a breastfed baby this worked the first time!!
I could not be happier over this bottle!! My mother (who is my daughters babysitter while I work) and I fought for almost 2 weeks because my 3 month old daughter would not take a bottle. Every day was a fight and I found myself having to go to my mother's just to feed her because it was such a struggle to get her to take any amount of pumped breastmilk from a bottle. I tried bottle after bottle including the NUK, Breastform, Playtex nurser, ...I can't even name all of the bottles I now have but will probably never use again. I was so desperate I got on Amazon.com and bought one of several different bottles that professed to change baby easily from breast to bottle. The MAM Ultivent worked the first time and she didn't just take an ounce or two she took several ounces and was SATISFIED!! I was ecstatic and so was my mom who threatened to kill me if I didn't do something! haha I did accidentally get the #2 nipple with the second MAM I bought and she really didn't care for that so we are sticking to the #1 until she grows out of it. The slow flow and the shape of the nipple did the trick! Take it from a mom who loves to breastfeed but needed an alternative when I wasn't there...this bottle ROCKS!!
SO/SO
When my daughter was born on 10/20/08; I had purchased several types of bottles to try to see which ones worked the best. I first purchased the Playtex "Advanced" Ventaire (YUCK, they leak terribly), the Evenflo easy grip (she spit up too much with them) and the Playtex with drop ins (the liners kept busting when I tried to "burp" them). But with these she spit up alot less with. There are a few parts to them but, to me, it makes them easier to clean. I have never had a problem with them leaking and they are so cute! HOWEVER,,,the stage 1 nipples flow entirely too fast for a newborn and it choked her she also developed reflux so now we are using dr. brown's and they are much better (to me) but they are not bad bottles just watch the flow if it's a newborn
