About the Xbox 360 Hardware
|
| Xbox 360, shown with wireless controller, is a sleek, customizable gaming and entertainment system. |
Xbox 360 is much smaller than its predecessor--it measures approximately 3.3 by 12.2 by 10.2 inches and weighs 7.7 lbs. It's powered by custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU with three symmetrical cores each running at 3.2 GHz. It also carries a custom ATI graphics processor 10 MB of embedded DRAM. This is powerful enough to draw 500 million triangles per second. In other words, it makes for great looking games in standard TV definition, and even better thanks to built-in support for HDTV 1080i televisions. It also supports the widescreen 16:9 format.
The unit has a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM drive, which plays both the game media and progressive-scan DVD movies right out of the box. For game-save and media storage, users can choose between the detachable and upgradeable 20GB hard drive, or a separately sold 64MB flash Memory Unit. Along with storing files, the hard drive will make the Xbox 360 backward-compatible with part of the existing Xbox game library.
Xbox 360 uses a refined button layout for its controllers. Back and Start buttons sit at the center of the controller and between them is a new Xbox Guide button, which instantly takes the user to the Xbox 360 user interface. From there, they can check for friends online, access personal digital content like photos and songs, and more. The black and white buttons of the first Xbox controllers have been replaced with new shoulder buttons placed above the left and right triggers. Xbox 360 can accommodate up to four wireless controllers and has three USB 2.0 slots to use for wired controllers or for streaming your digital media from digital cameras, MP3 players, and any Windows XP-based PC. Microsoft has announced plans for a upcoming video-conferencing camera that will work with the system.

| Xbox 360 can manage your games, your online friends, and your personal digital library. |
About Xbox 360 Games and Media
All Xbox 360 titles can be played in either standard or high-definition resolution in 16:9 widescreen, with anti-aliasing for smoother graphics. Game designers will be able to take advantage of the system's multi-channel surround sound. The Xbox 360's digital media allows users to supplement any game's music from tracks in their own personal library.
About Xbox Live
A built-in Ethernet port allows users to connect their system to a broadband connection for access to the new Xbox Live Silver. The included service lets anyone create a Gamertag and gamer card to express your online identity, chat live with voice chat, and connect to the Xbox Live Marketplace to buy expansions, maps, and other digital goodies for your games. The subscription service Xbox Live Gold adds to that online competition, game stats, and video chat/messaging. The separately sold wireless adapter supports the common 802.11a, -b, and -g standards.

Customer Reviews
THE console to own this generation
In my opinion the xbox 360 has the best selection of titles to choose from to keep you entertained this gen.
I actually had to send in my halo edition because of the red ring of death, which i assume can happen whenever. I thought I might see it after some long sessions with it on. But no, I was house sitting for my parents and when I returned to my appartment and booted it up after a week of it just sitting there, within the first 5 minutes of having it on the problems started.
I choose to send this into the repair center, which was actually a very speedy process as they just sent me a new console instead of fixing the one that I sent them.
The halo edition looks great, a little more dull/darker than it looks in the picture but its still cool, and its great having the hdmi support for obvious reasons. I usually let newer unexperienced players use a different controller because if its a little dark in your room the face buttons arent as clear to the eye, as it would be with the white.
I own a wii and barely play it due to the fact that there really arent many good games. Also, it seems they only release games for audiences under 5. Thats sarcasm for you, but really most of all the games are for kids.
never had a care to play the ps3 and still havent touched one
go microsoft!
Like Halo? Like Xbox 360? Well we have a system for you!
I have owned 3 Xbox 360 consoles, and not a single one of them have suffered the Red Ring Death. This one is no exception.
I am a huge fan of the Halo series so me buying this was a "No Duh" decision. People complain about the Red Ring of Death with their systems. I have never had this issue. I do not know if these people are unlucky or if they simply cram the Xbox in a non vented area, but if you keep the Xbox out where it can breathe I think it would be alright. Just my 2 cent there.
This version of the 360 does have HDMI like the newer versions do. I only have 2 major complaints with this system.
1 being that I wish it would have come with the 120GB Hard drive vs the 20GB. The 20 fills up just too quickly with all the great stuff on Xbox Live.
2 is that I wish you could buy more controllers, headsets, etc to match this system! I have 1 really nice Green controller and then 1 Black and 1 White one. Would it be so hard to make these to buy separate?
This is nothing but a Green Xbox 360. lol But if you love Halo, this is an awesome choice.
A Great Deal on a Great System
I am completely satisfied with this purchase!
Pros:
The console looks great (in person it appear brighter than the customer pics, darker than the company pics)
Great graphics
Matching controller (plug and play included) and headset
Comes with free Special Edition Gamerpics and Theme
Lots of backwards compatability
1 month free gold membership to xbox live
Less cables, plugs, and setup than older consoles
A VERY WELL DESIGNED PRODUCT
Cons:
It has a rather large external power supply (hide it next to the power outlet)
Halo 3 is not included
Many people do not respect the Xbox 360 and are turning to worship the PlayStation3. Halo fans feel left out of the spot light with their 360s, but let me tell you, this console turns heads! Everyone asks me about it and has never seen one before. Make the decision on consoles based on exclusive games, not on anything else because people blow the Xbox 360's AND the PS3's problems out of proportion. If you are interested in the Halo series then the choice is obvious!
BUY THIS CONSOLE!
