Customer Reviews
Drive failed within a week
I got the drive, great deal, from Amazon. It worked long enough for me to back up a couple computers then it crashed my computer. When I re-booted, the drive ceased to appear on either of the two machines I'd previously used it with. Iomega does have good support and they're replacing the drive for free, but I read Iomega's discussion boards and I'm not the only one to have had this problem. Don't have the new drive yet, so can't say yet how round 2 goes, but this was WAY more hassle than I wanted with a seemingly simple FW/USB drive.
awesome so far.
no problems with the product thus far. I've had it for about 1 month now and it stays quiet, stays relatively cool even over long periods of time (2 days), and the firewire can't be beat! Some have complained about the blue light; yes it is a bit bright, but i just turn it to an angle that doesnt catch my eye and problem solved.
Included software does not work with 64 bit operating system
I intended to use this hard drive to automatically back up my C drive. The included software to accomplish this does not work with my 64 bit Windows XP operating system. I must manually drag and drop each folder to the Omega hard drive. This defeats the purpose of the hard drive. I worked with an Iomega technician. There are apparently no plans on Iomega's part to correct this problem.
