![]() | Chalice by Robin McKinley
Buy new: $12.34 / Used from: $3.45 I'm a perpetual fan of McKinley. However, this book seems like it's lacking something. It's a great story, I love the elements of the honey and the priest of fire, etc. But, it seems a lot of her traditional inner monologues, great triumphs, & personal relationships are lacking.

![]() | I Remember Love by Mollie Hardwick
Buy used from: $2.86 ALWAYS a favorite. I ADORE this book!!! I have to read it at least once a year. Taking place in 3 parts during The War of the Roses, Henry VIII's Anglican reformation, & The Victorian era, these lovers must fight to be with each other though so many obstacles and lifetimes. Not at all just some cheesy romance though. Please give it a chance.
![]() | Sunshine by Robin McKinley
Buy new: $10.88 / Used from: $5.44 Another perpetual favorite I MUST read at least once a year! I don't like the new cover here, but don't let it fool you into thinking this is a typical vampire genre novel! SOOO much more! Con is my FAVORITE vampire & this is SO introspective and unique. A very smart book. I recommend it to virtually anyone. MMMMM!!!!

![]() | Undead and Unemployed (Queen Betsy, Book 2) by MaryJanice Davidson
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.40 I read the 1st of this series last summer. It has an interesting story line. I can't say I really relate to any of the characters though and it's certainly not a deep look into humans or vampires. It's a light, cotton-candyish take on the vampire genre.
![]() | Undead and Unappreciated (Queen Betsy, Book 3) by MaryJanice Davidson
Buy used from: $0.70 I tend to want to finish a series once I've started. So, I'm continuing this. Certainly not among my favorite books, but interesting enough to keep my attention. Very fast reading and about as deep as a birdbath, but they're fun enough.
![]() | The Curse of the Pharaohs (Amelia Peabody, Book 2) by Elizabeth Peters
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 Read the 1st of this series last summer too. I LOVE all things Ancient Egypt, so this is a great series for me. Amelia's overly-analytic, highly-Victorian rationale can get on one's nerves, but they're still fun books.
![]() | Undead and Unreturnable (Queen Betsy, Book 4) (Berkley Sensation) by MaryJanice Davidson
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.72 More popcorn and cotton candy, but still enjoyable. A murderer is on the loose, killing women who look a LOT like Betsy. Again, I think the crime is all too easy to solve, and there are some speedbumps along the way, but it was a fun, quick read.
![]() | Dead and Gone (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 9) by Charlaine Harris
Buy new: $14.97 / Used from: $9.95 I've been reading these since I ran across Dead Until Dark a few years ago. While the last two books haven't been as enjoyable as that one, there's still quite a variety of occurences to keep me reading.
![]() | Undead and Unpopular (Queen Betsy, Book 5) by MaryJanice Davidson
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.47 Betsy has sworn off blood, and also swears she doesn't want a birthday party. It's been a year now since she became a vampire and queen of the undead. Now she has to prove she deserves the title.
![]() | Undead and Uneasy (Undead/Queen Betsy) by MaryJanice Davidson
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.70 #6 Everyone has disappeared and Betsy has a wedding to plan. Oh, and BabyJon is a permanent resident now. Yet another cotton candy/popcorn romp with the designer-shoe-addicted Queen Betsy.
![]() | Harp Of The Grey Rose by Charles De Lint
Buy used from: $37.69 I read "Memory and Dream" and LOVED it. Of course, being an artist too, I would. This, however, is much different. It's pretty conventional fantasy; a knockoff of Tolkien in many ways. The Mines of Moria, dwarves, ancient dark powers rising, blah, blah, blah...not all that interesting.
![]() | The Mummy Case (Amelia Peabody Mysteries) by Elizabeth Peters
Buy new: $15.56 / Used from: $3.19 #3 This time Amelia and Emerson are on the hunt for undiscovered treasures in pyramids - and they have their precocious son Ramses along for the ride! Of course they find themselves embroiled in a murder mystery and a race to save antiquities from careless thieves.
![]() | Persuasion by Jane Austen
Buy new: $6.95 / Used from: $5.74 My second favorite Austen work. P & P being the first, of course because of Lizzie and Darcy. Anyway, I love the theme of 2nd chances even after years and much bitterness has passed. Jane Austen is brilliant, and even if you don't think she's your cup of tea, try her anyway!!!
![]() | Pride and Prejudice (Penguin Classics) by Jane Austen
Buy new: $8.00 / Used from: $1.79 I've heard it said that Persuasion is the thinking-person's Pride and Prejudice. Whatever the case may be, this is a rich tapestry of Romantic era England, with some standout characters I simply adore! I just LOVE this book!
![]() | The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley
Buy new: $11.20 / Used from: $4.42 Not sure why I can't find this new, I've seen the latest cover...anyway, this book is my favorite of McKinley's along with Sunshine! It's a glorious story of a desert people at odds with the British, the subtle magic their people carry, and the enormous threat from the north our narrator must face. Ugh, what bad description for a wonderful book!
![]() | The Work of Wolves by Kent Meyers
Buy new: $10.20 / Used from: $0.49 Prof. Meyers teaches at the university I just graduated from. I've taken several classes and an independent study from him. He is a truly brilliant writer! I simply LOVE this book and would reccommend it to ANYONE!!! The characters are so well-developed and complex, there are so many layers, overlaps, and profound realizations! Genius!!!
![]() | In the Forests of Serre by Patricia A. McKillip
Buy used from: $2.97 I like the utter strangeness and vivid imagination of McKillip - her novels always have a dreamy, surreal quality and involve a host of very unique, very idiosyncratic characters. It's hard to describe but they seem so insubstantial and elusive - I'm always intrigued.
![]() | The Midnight Club by Christopher Pike
Buy new: $4.99 / Used from: $0.01 Been a favorite since I was 14. It looks like it should be teen horror, but it's nothing of the kind! It is 5 teens dying at a hospice who get together and tell stories at midnight, but their stories become personal and connections and realizations are made that will simply astound!
![]() | Lion in the Valley (Amelia Peabody Mysteries) by Elizabeth Peters
Buy new: $15.59 / Used from: $4.00 As always, a fun novel! The dreaded "Master Criminal" is out to get Amelia, Emerson, and Ramses and you never know when he might pop up! Oh, and they get their PYRAMIDS!
![]() | The Deeds of the Disturber (Amelia Peabody, Book 5) by Elizabeth Peters
Buy used from: $3.17 Ah, Victorian London...Egyptian craze, female ruler who doesn't do justice to the rest of her sex, Jack the Ripper might pop up anywhere, and of course there's always corrupt nobility and "unpleasant personal diseases." Never know where that famous fog takes these explorers!!!
![]() | The Last Camel Died at Noon (Amelia Peabody, Book 6) by Elizabeth Peters
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 Oh, this was absolutely fantastic! Just imagine if you could go back in time and see Egyptian civilization as it was 3,000 years ago!!! Or so you think...Well, just read this book!
![]() | The Snake, the Crocodile & the Dog (Amelia Peabody Mysteries) by Elizabeth Peters
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 Reading now
![]() | Twisted Tree by Kent Meyers
Buy new: $16.32 / Used from: $14.98 I cannot WAIT for this to come out! I've watched the progress of this novel in a few of my classes and did an independent study with prof. Meyers last fall. I'm SO excited to see the bits and pieces I've seen come together in their final form! It's not out until Sept. but I'm pre-ordering!
![]() | The River Warren by Kent Meyers
Buy used from: $4.05 I started to read this last summer but got stopped because I spent too much time taking notes in the margins and marking all the passages I thought brilliant. I can't help it, I think Prof. Meyers should be recognized for the incredible modern novelist he is!!!
![]() | Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Buy used from: $0.41 I started to watch the movie the other day and though it's been a long time, I still know most of the lines...and I've read this several times, 1000+ pages regardless! For anyone interested in the Civil War and Antibellum society, it's a must read! Oh yeah, and there's Rhett and Scarlett too... ;)
![]() | Jane Eyre (Vintage Classics) by Charlotte Bronte
Buy new: $7.95 / Used from: $4.40 I think I've lost track of how many times I've read Jane Eyre. I even wrote an essay on her as compared to Victorian Angels of the Household in my Brit. Lit. class a couple years ago. Jane is an amazing example of female fortitude, and you just can't miss Rochester! The most attractive "ugly" man EVER
![]() | The Hippopotamus Pool (Amelia Peabody, Book 8) by Elizabeth Peters
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01 I obviously can't get enough of Victorian Egyptologists and fun mystery writing that jests at itself as it carries you along :)
