I'm a perpetual fan of McKinley. However, this book seems like it's lacking something. It's a great story, I love the elements of the honey and the priest of fire, etc. But, it seems a lot of her traditional inner monologues, great triumphs, & personal relationships are lacking.

Another perpetual favorite I MUST read at least once a year! I don't like the new cover here, but don't let it fool you into thinking this is a typical vampire genre novel! SOOO much more! Con is my FAVORITE vampire & this is SO introspective and unique. A very smart book. I recommend it to virtually anyone. MMMMM!!!!

I tend to want to finish a series once I've started. So, I'm continuing this. Certainly not among my favorite books, but interesting enough to keep my attention. Very fast reading and about as deep as a birdbath, but they're fun enough.

More popcorn and cotton candy, but still enjoyable. A murderer is on the loose, killing women who look a LOT like Betsy. Again, I think the crime is all too easy to solve, and there are some speedbumps along the way, but it was a fun, quick read.

Betsy has sworn off blood, and also swears she doesn't want a birthday party. It's been a year now since she became a vampire and queen of the undead. Now she has to prove she deserves the title.

I read "Memory and Dream" and LOVED it. Of course, being an artist too, I would. This, however, is much different. It's pretty conventional fantasy; a knockoff of Tolkien in many ways. The Mines of Moria, dwarves, ancient dark powers rising, blah, blah, blah...not all that interesting.

My second favorite Austen work. P & P being the first, of course because of Lizzie and Darcy. Anyway, I love the theme of 2nd chances even after years and much bitterness has passed. Jane Austen is brilliant, and even if you don't think she's your cup of tea, try her anyway!!!

Not sure why I can't find this new, I've seen the latest cover...anyway, this book is my favorite of McKinley's along with Sunshine! It's a glorious story of a desert people at odds with the British, the subtle magic their people carry, and the enormous threat from the north our narrator must face. Ugh, what bad description for a wonderful book!

I like the utter strangeness and vivid imagination of McKillip - her novels always have a dreamy, surreal quality and involve a host of very unique, very idiosyncratic characters. It's hard to describe but they seem so insubstantial and elusive - I'm always intrigued.

As always, a fun novel! The dreaded "Master Criminal" is out to get Amelia, Emerson, and Ramses and you never know when he might pop up! Oh, and they get their PYRAMIDS!

Oh, this was absolutely fantastic! Just imagine if you could go back in time and see Egyptian civilization as it was 3,000 years ago!!! Or so you think...Well, just read this book!

I cannot WAIT for this to come out! I've watched the progress of this novel in a few of my classes and did an independent study with prof. Meyers last fall. I'm SO excited to see the bits and pieces I've seen come together in their final form! It's not out until Sept. but I'm pre-ordering!

I started to watch the movie the other day and though it's been a long time, I still know most of the lines...and I've read this several times, 1000+ pages regardless! For anyone interested in the Civil War and Antibellum society, it's a must read! Oh yeah, and there's Rhett and Scarlett too... ;)

I obviously can't get enough of Victorian Egyptologists and fun mystery writing that jests at itself as it carries you along :)
