Not as "advanced" as I thought it would be!
I had picked this video up hoping to get some tips on giving better oral sex to my man. I had just finished reading two fine books, "The Ultimate Guide to Fellatio," by Violet Blue, and `Tickle His Pickle,' by Sadie Allison, and I found both to be quite enlightening. The former was good for learning more about deep throating, and the latter was helpful for getting more comfortable with swallowing. Since this was Nina's "Advanced Course to Oral Sex,' I thought she might enlighten me still further.

Unfortunately, this is more of a couples tape and not really an advanced instructional video. Sure, there are oral sex lessons for both men and women, but the movie dealt more with the emotional act of giving - rather than passing along anything to us that was new or earth shattering. If you're a woman who is uncomfortable with the idea of pleasing your man orally, this would be a great video to help you overcome your inhibitions - especially when you see how the women use their lips and tongues so lovingly. There's no doubt that they look beautiful doing so - and that you'll look equally enchanting (and not slutty) when you emulate them.

The best segment was easily the one where two girls take turns sharing one guy. Nina suggests to them that they imagine kissing and making love -- to each other - as they romantically serviced the lucky guy's tool. Knowing what they were trying to accomplish visually really heightened the emotionality of this scene - and it totally eliminated any feelings of jealousy the women might've had for each other. My guy absolutely loved this vignette since it simultaneously satisfied many fantasies for him - of having two women express their romanticism towards each other - and, of course, by doing so using his magnificent pole as the lightning rod for their affection. (Right!)

The silliest segment (and one which really dates this video) is one where Nina oils up another woman's erogenous area (to increase its sensitivity) - before covering it with Saran wrap -- in order to teach men how to use a "barrier" for oral sex. As a woman, if a man asked me to do this - I would be absolutely insulted! (Hey, I don't take hours to prepare myself -- to be treated like last night's left-overs!) Plus, if my guy were to go down on me, I'd want him to be totally aroused - so that his oral sensations of exploring me would be indelibly ingrained into his long-term CPU! (Hey, a little brainwashing never hurt anyone!) Unfortunately, doing as Nina suggests would only cause him to have an unnatural desire to poke holes in deli-sandwich-plastic-wrap -- with his tongue! (As a consequence, neither my guy nor I could keep ourselves from rolling on the sofa -- from laughing so hard - during this scene!)

Just wishing out loud, I really hope that Nina might update this video to include more instructions on deep throating and swallowing. Teaching a few women how to relax their throat muscles and use the proper technique for breathing -- while taking their guys further -- would be helpful! (An occasional gag by one of the women might also add a little realism.) And if Nina or another girl would demonstrate the various postures for `sword swallowing,' I'm sure that would also be unbelievably sexy to watch.

Lastly, I'd love for Nina to use some of her empathically instructive narrative to help us become more comfortable with the idea of allowing our men to climax orally. I don't mind the idea of doing so. But what I'd be most interested to learn from Nina, though - would be how to emotionally mine this sensuous act for all it's worth! (I think a European cruise or a larger diamond ring would be fair, don't you think?)

Seriously, though, this is a nice video for a couple to add a little spice to their relationship (while also getting a few chuckles). For novices, the amount of instruction might be `just right.' Unfortunately, what qualifies as "advanced" is obviously a moving target - especially when it comes to oral sex. And there's definitely much, much more that Nina can teach us - which I hope someday she might! Enjoy.

A Good But Not A Great Nina DVD
Compared to Nina Hartley's Guide To Better Fellatio, this DVD is infinitely better. The script is much more relaxed and Nina appears much more polished. The audio & video quality are much better. The sex scenes are less pornographic (but not non-pornographic) and more loving.

While it covers both fellatio and cunnilingus, there is nothing really advanced about the techniques in this "guide", except for Nina's newfound skill as an instructor. It is really aimed at first-timers and novices.
