The Ancestral Diet Meets Modern Nutrition
Ferrets, being strict carnivores, require a high animal protein and fat in their daily diets, along with low carbohydrate intake. However, a diet limited to meat alone could cause harmful nutritional imbalances. In recent years, due to the lack of availability of high-quality ferret foods on the market, many ferret owners have become attracted to feeding a homemade or ''raw'' diet which they believe approximates the evolutionary diet of a ferret. That is, until now. EVO Dry Ferret Food was created to supply a high protein, low carbohydrate formula that mimics the ingredients and nutritional profile of a raw diet.

Best Food
This is the only food I will feed to my ferrets. There are very little fillers and only good stuff in this food and they love it. The only complaint is it makes their poop stain my carpet more, but if its good for them...
Super high quality food for elderly ferrets
Evo has become a very popular choice for both ferret shelters and individual ferret people who want to feed their companions the highest quality natural ferret food available. There has been an explosion recently of higher quality, more natural food for ferrets that ramps up the protein and tones down the carbohydrates, and Evo is one of those foods. On the down side, Evo is famous for being rejected by a lot of ferrets who don't like the taste, but there's only one way to find out if your ferret will like it. I suggest mixing it in slowly with other brands. I currently feed my ferrets a blend of Evo, Instinct, and ZuPreem and that has worked out well. One of my ferrets (who has insulinoma, adrenal disease, AND lymphoma) enjoys Evo a lot after not liking it at first, and I feed her individual pieces as a treat. She is thriving and has outlived her prognosis. Give Evo a try if you're looking for a premium ferret food and are concerned about ingredient quality & protein level.
You get what you pay for....pay for this food!
Ferrets are obligate carnivores. They do not digest fiber well, and excess carbs in their diet is the most likely reason that we see such a high incidence of insulinoma in the USA (and other places where ferrets are fed kibble diets). The standard ferret (including zupreem or 8 in 1 ultimate) or cat food is estimated to contain upwards of 30% carbs!!! A ferret's natural diet (from looking at their cousin, the european polecat, from which Mustello furo is essentially genetically indistinguishable) should be mostly protein and fat, *very* low carb. Innova evo is guaranteed to be under 10% carbs, and it has the protein and fat that my fuzzies need to stay healthy. I can't recommend this food enough. I mix this food with Totally Ferret baby (which is the only TF food I really prefer...42% protein, less than 6% carbs, no corn, which is allergenic for many ferrets). If you don't want to order IE on the internet, you can go to their website and look for local retailers. My local natural pet food store will order a bag for me and not charge me shipping.
