Customer Reviews
Tried many sippys... This is the FIRST that does not leak!!
Seems other reviewers (on the foogo without handles) has said this sippy cup leaks. My very active toddler twin boys have been man-handling these cups for the past 2 days without a single leak at all! I am very impressed! Love the hearty construction and rugged look. Too bad for my hardwood floors, however! Oh well, I guess with time, they'll learn to throw them gently :)
Anyway - we have been using the Born Free sippys for the past 4 months and really do like them. However the lids keep cracking and they leak just like all other sippys, plus they sweat terribly. The foogos do not sweat at all, which is another bonus.
Most importantly here - we are super glad for the safe plastic & metal construction (and will continue to use the Born Free as well).
My ONLY complaint with these cups is that
1) They are only 7 ounces and my guys drain these things rapidly. Seven ounces is not enough to get us by on ANY excursion.
2) I don't know if it's easy to come by replacement parts, but the valve parts look like they will damage or get lost very easily.
3) Wish they made a sport spout for when they grow out of the sippy phase. These cups are an investment $$ and appear they will last a long time. So it would be nice if the cup would grow with them rather than have to ditch it in a year. (plus I'd like to have one with a sport top for me as well!)
Anyway - that's why the 4 instead of 5 stars. But I definitely recommend them.
Oh, it is kind of a soft spout which is nice... I should mention, they will seep some water if your kids push down on the spout (like mine) to make the water come out on purpose. Otherwise when they are just laying around on my couch, carpet and hardwoods, they absolutley do not leak a drop!!
We also tried the foogo straw cup. Nice, but they do leak when turned sideways... my boys aren't old enough for them yet. Maybe next year. Again, too bad the lids are not interchangeable, wish Thermos had thought this through. (And, Thermos,if you're listening... PLEASE MAKE A 10/12 ouncer!)
Cup leaked, returned it, second cup leaked - enough!
This cup LEAKS. The first one I tried leaked like crazy, so I returned it. The name of this item is "Leak-Proof Sippy Cup", so I figured that if mine leaked, it must be a mistake. Wrong. The second cup leaked just as badly.
It will not leak if you always keep it right side up, do not tilt it, do not bang it and do not slosh it. But if you turn the cup upside down, or even tilt it, it drips briskly from both the spout itself, and the little air hole opposite the spout. So if you give it to your child, it will leak milk everywhere (and isn't that why you buy an insulated cup, to put milk in?) Leaking water is not the end of the world, it'll dry eventually, but leaking milk is not goode.
It will also leak milk all over the inside of your diaper bag. If the spout or the little air hole comes into contact with cloth or anything absorbent, milk will wick right out of the cup, soaking your bag, your clean diapers, your stuffed animals or your extra set of kid clothes.
Otherwise, it's a terrific cup; safer than plastic, doesn't hurt your eyes design-wise, and keeps milk nice and cold. It is quite heavy. You do not want your kid throwing this at another kid, or even dropping it on their own foot. Ouch. But I can live with that, all sippy cups are heavy when they're full. I can't live with the leaking.
Why on earth can Gerber and everyone else in the business make a $2 sippy cup that doesn't leak no matter what you do to it, yet Thermos can't pull it off with this $15 item? It's very frustrating.
Leaks, leaks, leaks
This cup leaks and the lid parts are hard to get back together after you take it apart to wash. It doesn't hold very much either. My twins like to bang it on tables, floors, etc.
